If it's illegal to threaten someone, why don't you get arrested for telling someone they're going to Hell?

Is that a legal technicality, since it's imaginary, or do cops just not take it seriously when it's reported?

I think it has something to do with the fact that the person who makes the threat does not have the power to carry it out.

If some one tells an Atheist who has done a really big favor, "You'll surely be rewarded in heaven", is that also a threat, since he/she wouldn't want to go there? (Even though he/she doesn't believe it exists?)

If it's illegal to threaten someone, why don't doctors get arrested for telling someone they're going to fall sick if he doesn't take care of his diet, exercise, etc.?

Its caring. I dont want people to go to hell so I tell them about Jesus. That's the good news. But to have good news there has to be bad news. The bad news is that we are all sinners and those who aren't true christians are going to hell. I dont want that to happen, there fore I tell people that they are sinners and are going to hell.

    Because hell does not exist.

there is no underground fiery pit of demons or whatever.

    there is just dirt.

and if there is a hell email me and tell me where it says there is one in the bible.

It's more of a warning than a threat.

that's not a threat, it's not in there power to send you to hell.

it's like saying 'your going to die of heart disease if you dont do something about your weight'

it is not a threat. it is an assessment.

however, "I am going to force you into hell," is a threat.
