Schizophrenic question?
I have a huge fear of becoming schizophrenic!!
now every little noise I hear like a bang or a noise downstairs or something, if no one else hears it I then think i'm going crazy!!
I keep thinking everyday I'm gonna wake up i'll suddenly start hearing voices, delusions etc.
everyday i'm on edge anxious, hearing out for noises and stuff!!
if i fear schizophrenic does that mean that i'm not mentally ill??
I read up on schizo and became obsessed with it and got scared I have it or will get :S
I'm 21 years old and it's ruining my life worrying about it!!
I have severe anxiety so could my senses be on red alert all the time!!
it ruins my day if i hear a little noise and noone else heard it :( isit because i'm subcoiunciously looking for it???
they sound like household noises or something but they are not obvious, sometimes other people hear it, but maybe it's a habit for my ears to be aware now!!
It worries me my phych doesn't think I have it or my doc, so why do i think i'll get it :S

I think that you may have an anxiety disorder of some sort (although I'm no professional, so I could be wrong).
I think you should speak to your doctor, maybe he/she can give you some meds to calm you down, or refer you to a counseling service.

Ah ha! I'm not alone! Thank goodness! But yeah, you're having bad anxiety and being a hypochondriac, like me! Once I had a stomach issue and I got so scared that it was a stomach ulcer and started having symptoms of one and I couldn't sleep because I was so scared I would wake up and barf my guts up. I'm horribly afraid of barfing, he he he. I also had that problem with the schizophrenia hypochondria for four months, but then it randomly went away. Just let it go I guess, you're not going to go schizo, if you were, you wouldn't be thinking about the noises and stuff and you would be hypervigilant about it. The thing is, if you think you're schizo, you're most likely not, and it's scary, I know I don't want it. But then again, I'd rather have schizo than some stomach disease. Hope you feel better. :)

Um what possibly gave you the idea that you are going to become schizophrenic? Does schizophrenia run in your family? Or did you just decide this because of a book? I think it sounds more like you have severe anxiety/hypochondria. And if you don't get all your worries under control, you may soon manifest a nasty case of obsessive compulsive personality disorder. Get on some prozac or some SSRI or anti-anxiety meds and stop worrying and start enjoying your life.

Schizo people never consider the fact that they might be crazy, that's just the nature of the beast. That said, just because you aren't schizo doesn't mean you don't have a mental illness like OCD maybe.

You sound more anxious than anything. I'm no psychiatrist, but there's more to schizophrenia than just "hearing voices" though that's often part of it. You'll probably be treated for anxiety than anything else if you go to your doctor with what you describe.
BTW I hate it when people refer to people with Schizophrenia as "Schizos"!

Just calm down and stop worrying. If you hear a background sound just try to shrug it off. I know it is hard to do so but it would make you feel so much better. If you haven't had delusions etc you are all right, your not going mad.

you need to stop worrying about it. has anyone in your family ever had it? if not then there is nothing to worry about, it is genetic you have to inherit it. if your doctors don't think that you have it then you don't.
