Canon HV20 Camcorder keeps crashing my computer?
Hello, i have owned a Canon HV20 for a while, and for the last year or so, when i attempt to capture video through the DV out of the camera into a firewire port into my computer, the system crashes, usually completely freezing up, the only fix being to manually turn off the computer and restart.
This isn't a problem with the program, because the symptoms are universal. I have tried Sony Vegas Pro 9, Premiere Pro CS4, and even HDV Split, with the same symptom.
I do not have $1,700.00 for a MiniDV Capture deck, and i need HD capability as well as 24p capable.
How do i fix this, or what is generally cheap that could help me out?
the camera has no driver updates for my OS (Vista HP)
Thanks

If you have a small hard drive, or your hard drive is less than say 50% free and if you don't have much memory then that can cause this problem. Editing programs are resource hogs.

There won't be any driver updates for the camcorder because they're part of the OS, though you could see if HP have published any. At a guess I'd look at the Firewire card - see if you can borrow a replacement. If there's no alternative, a new one shouldn't cost more than a few £/$.

i'm not positive no matter in the adventure that your project is it corresponding to my client project I confronted at present. i realized if the demanding disk changed into formatted with FAT32 and not NTFS, you receives the blue exhibit screen sometimes. you could attempt to coach the abode windows self diagnoistic administration off with the aid of :- a million) start up 2) administration Panel 3) device 4) stepped forward 5) less than Startup and fix, click placing 7) turn off each and every of the device failure thoughts 8) And set debugging concepts to (none) 9) ok The above is for abode windows XP, as for Vista you should determine it out your self coz i do not use Vista (Is a piece of ****, very risky and sluggish).
