Does anyone REALLY believe in God, I mean REALLY?
Like God as in a being in the sky who creates, thinks, and writes books. "Believers" are really pretending deep down right? Not trying to antagonize.

Academia states that in the absence of proof of the existence of something it must be deemed not to exist until verifiable proof is found - thus god is held not to exist pending some sort of verifiable evidence.
There is not one single mention of Jesus in the entire Roman record - that is right - not one! At the same time as he was supposed to have been around there were a number of Jews claiming to be the messiah - all of whom are well recorded!
There is not a single contemporary record from any source and even the bible mentions of him like all other references were not written until many years after his supposed death!
He was supposed to have been a huge problem to the Romans and produced wonderful miracles but still not one contemporary record?
Even the bible mentions of him like all other references were not written until many years after his supposed death!
Pilate is recorded in the Roman record as a somewhat lack luster man but no mention of a Jesus, a trial or crucifixion that would surely have been used to make him look brighter!
At best he was an amalgam of those others but almost certainly never existed!
The Roman Emperor Constantine produced the bible and he was a pagan not god!!! He took the Jewish religion and basing it on the Mithras religion, organized it into Christianity and then into the Holly Roman Catholic Church!! Not in Israel or any of the countries of supposed origin but entirely ITALIAN!
Not one word of it is contemporary with the period and was not written until several hundred years after the period the story is set in!! How did the apostles write their books more than a hundred years after they would have been dead?
What a wonder full disinformation and deception campaign he waged against his Jewish enemies by turning them into his invented Christianity - so good in fact that Christians are still following the deception to this day!
The first person to provide a shred of verifiable evidence for God will become world famous and mega rich!! Ain't happened yet and it never will!
So how does this primitive belief survive? The answer is simple and very down to Earth
Acceptance of a supernatural claim tends to promote cooperative social relationships. This communication demonstrates a willingness to accept, without skepticism, the influence of the speaker in a way similar to a child's acceptance of the influence of a parent. By encouraging this kind of behavior where the most intense social relationships occur it facilitates the lack of skepticism and deters more open minded thinking.
They are christian, Muslim or the other religions depending where they were born simply because they were indoctrinated by their parents as very young children. They will go on to indoctrinate their own children and those will go on to indoctrinate their grandchildren!
Atheists have the intellect to see through the conditioning and escape into the real world!
Agnostics have the intellect to see through the conditioning but lack the courage to throw of the conditioning entirely.
Sadly Christians are still held firmly prisoner by the self perpetuating brainwashing!

I believe in God. I believe whether or not you are a believer the word of the bible could do anyone some good. Yes, it preaches the gospel but it also promotes humanity (which is not always show in both categories: believers and nonbelievers).
I, also, believe it is a never ending battle because someone always has to get the last word. And just as much nonbelievers can be attacking believers can be too.
We are all made differently and I think it is something people just need to accept and move on from, instead of harboring hate.
I can understand why some may not believe, that is what they chose. But what I do not understand is why it matters so much that I do?
I am educated, calm and collected, I am a mother, a friend, a wife. I make mistakes, bad decisions, good decisions, and always lend a helping hand. I am not ignorant for what I believe in and No matter what anyone says I will Not change my religious views because it is My decision. So why work so hard to prove me wrong? I am human, I decide my future and I decide Jesus.
Thank you,

Yes. I truly believe in God.
Are you an athiest?
You should look at this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xg-QicYmqYg&feature...
Not only that, but you should really try to examine some of the reasons you DON'T believe in God.
Have you ever, read the Bible? You should take some time to read it before you lose all hope.
I was a skeptic at first but now I couldn't be more in love with Him. It's not about religion, it's about building a RELATIONSHIP with Him. As you continue to seek Him and learn more about Him then trust me you will partake in His promises and have everlasting joy and peace.
*You can build a relationship by reading the Bible, and praying [talking with God as you would a friend], meditating on Him and hearing His voice*
With the risk of sounding corny, lol,but.. the feeling that comes over you once you truly submit to the will of God is the feeling that everyone on this earth is searching for.
We were ALL made in his image and likeness.
Even if you don't believe; I'll still pray that you will come around and see all the great things He has in store for you and your family.
And being a Christian is not just for old folks... I'm 21 and there are SOOOOOOO many young Christians out there.... we look just as flyy and fashionable as any other 21 who is out clubbing all night. We always hang out and have so much fun and different lounges, we vacation together, we go out to eat, we talk about nonsense, we talk about God, we encourage each other, we love shopping we laugh, play & etc. We look the same as everyone else [we're all human] but we've picked up our crosses to follow Jesus' footsteps.
I recently graduated from college and my college life was slamming but this Sept [of 2010] I really had an encounter with God and I couldn't turn away! I don't know where you're from or how old you are but if you are from NYC... I would love to invite you out to my church and god-study.

I do believe there is some entity out there.... but I'm not "religious" in any way. I mean, come on. We can't just evolve. Evolution is a myth, I've done lots of research and scientists can never physically prove that evolution does happen... so we turn to something deeper. Something had to have created us, otherwise we wouldn't be here. So what, we can't see what it is. It doesn't mean it isn't there. It's sort of like the wind... you can't see it, but you can feel it. You can see that it affects things around you......

Hi!
I can understand your concern because I went through the same thing.I also used to wonder about God, so I studied the bible and wondered who wrote it..because some of the chapters were so confusing , I simply couldn't believe that God would sent down such a disorganized book(but my hunch is that the guy named peter wrote his heart out in the bible and filled it up with gibberish), but all I found was a bunch of unverified stories which confuses the readers. First I saw that there were over 9 versions of the bible, and each of them were different. It said that Jesus was God's son....but then I started thinking that if God is not a human, then how could he have kids. This guy was saying that look, jesus didn't have any father, so his dad must have been God himself! But when I told him that Adam and Eve didn't have any parents either. Does that make them god's children too? Well, all this was so confusing , that I started looking into some other religion to see what they had to say about God etc. Then Bible considers everyone to be sinners, and that God had to send his "son" to get rid of sins. This was strange that God would kill his innocent "son" in order to get rid of evil satan.! it sounded pretty cruel to me.Why would His "son" have to die for other peoples sins, or for satan, who makes people sin? Christianity also calls religious law a curse, and so that if someone follows religious laws ,they are in a curse.
Not too long ago, I bumped into this guy named Yousef Estes. He was a priest, so I told him about my confusions. Then he told me about a book called the Quran. It was the holy book of a religion called Islam. He told me that this book was "really" original. And trust me, when I read it, it didn't seem man made at all. The entire book didn't have a single contradictory statement. Then I later searched on you tube...you may want to check this out too;. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHiAGHFnzMU . If you watch a couple of those videos , you'll be amazed by some of the facts that matches so much with modern science. I mean if a guy wrote that book, he couldn't have known all this stuff more than 1400 years ago. In Islam, everyone is responsible for their own deeds, good or bad. No one dies or suffers for other peoples sins. If someone does something wrong, all he has to do is ask God for forgiveness sincerely, and promise not to do it again. God will certainly forgive him according to his intentions.
At first, I wasn't too sure if this Quran was original coz I thought it was also altered like the bible, but I later went to Turkey. There, I saw the original copy of the Quran, which was written 1400 years ago. It matched exactly with the current one.
Anyway, just check these out.I'm sure it will clear out your confusion.
Obviously there has to be some One up there who made us, created Adam and Eve.
there are so many different beliefs around, one really needs to look deep into a religion to determine if it is authentic.
the maze is to find the right religion that will lead us to heaven. if it weren't so confusing then god wouldn't have created heaven or hell.
anyway i bumped into this faith that made sense to me. it believes that god sent Judaism through prophet Moses, and Christianity through Jesus, and lastly Islam through Muhammad. it honors all the past religions and it is the only faith that was never changed a bit since the prophet Mohammad’s time.
unlike Christianity which is pretty confusing with so many bibles that has been altered and Judaism that also changes their laws through Rabbis, Islam was never changed , not laws nor the holy Quran.you can actually find the real 1400 years old copy in a museum in Turkey. I don't know much about science thing, but this religion is so full of scientific proofs and it is also a complete way of life.you won't be disappointed if you checked out this religion.
Good luck and keep searching

God is the English name given to a singular being in theistic and deistic religions (and other belief systems) who is either the sole deity in monotheism, or a single deity in polytheism.
God is most often conceived of as the supernatural creator and overseer of the universe. Theologians have ascribed a variety of attributes to the many different conceptions of God. The most common among these include omniscience (infinite knowledge), omnipotence (unlimited power), omnipresence (present everywhere), omnibenevolence (perfect goodness), divine simplicity, and eternal and necessary existence.
God has also been conceived as being incorporeal (immaterial), a personal being, the source of all moral obligation, and the "greatest conceivable existent". These attributes were all supported to varying degrees by the early Jewish, Christian and Muslim theologian philosophers, including Maimonides, Augustine of Hippo, and Al-Ghazali, respectively.

No. There are Jewish Cults , Buddhist cults, Islamic cults, and so one. The term "cult" does no longer comprise a definition of Jesus. what's substantial is that maximum cults positioned a HUMAN is place of a deity. in Christian cults that comprise human beings like Rev Jim Jones or Rev David Koresh. Cults fairly tend to insist on a specified-knit "family individuals" team, greater like a "commune", and the chief is considered the desirable Father or husband. Smaller family individuals units (married couples) are frequently broken up, and the ladies are compelled to have intercourse with the chief on a popular or rotational foundation, as though they have been having intercourse with God. There are a pair of dozen different signs and indications of cults. ALl non secular communities have one or 2 of those sign, and NO cults has all of them. each and each team could be considered in its individuality. yet denying Jesus isn't considered one of those signs and indications! Sicne your premise is fake, no scriptural evidence is needed.

I believe in God but we are a little past thinking he is santa in the sky.
I was an Atheist for 30 years so you must realize I really believe because I'm all questioned out
- Anonymous1 decade ago
being in the sky already tells me you have no clue what your talking about.
Not pretending at all. Grew up Christian, went atheist until God called me back and I had a silent prayer answered. Came to find he answered all my prayers. God exists, I couldn't understand how someone couldn't believe he exists. Just look around you, the world was made too perfectly for him not to exist. Humans suck

I would say no, but, the reality is, I was once a genuinely-believing Christian, absolutely convinced of it. How could I not be, I had even had visions and at the time had no logical explanation for them more reasonable than through the lens of my faith.
Yes. Most theists genuinely and honestly and REALLY believe that their religion is factually correct.
