How would a person on SSDI find out if they can get food stamps?

I saw the question posted a little bit ago, and wondered what website there may be to see if you could qualify for food stamps.

Apparently from the answers to the previous question it may vary from state to state.

Thanks to all serious responses.

You can't go on the website to see if you qualify for foodstamps while on SSDI. You have to apply through your local department of jobs and family services. You will then have a face to face apointment and then they will determine whether or not you are eligible for foodstamps. It can also go by your income and whether or not you are married. SSDI is a form of income that they go by.

You have to go to the food stamps office and apply. there are many calculators online that try to estimate and guess if a person is eligible but they are usually wrong.

You find the formula here http://www.fns.usda.gov/snap/applicant_recipients/... you are on ssdi which qualifies for the special budget so don't worry about the income limit on top

if your SSDI is low enough you can be eligible for food stamps. in each state it is with a different department. (for example: dept. of health, dept. of children and families, dept. of health and human services, dept. of health, etc) here is a list of departments with webs sites links for each state (below; click on the link for your state) you should be able to apply online, and usually get a letter in the mail very quickly with a card. the amount you will receive depends on how much your income is.

call your state offices (like where your governor is located) and ask, or go to the state job services area and ask them there, or find them on a google search. You can apply online.

You can apply online. Do a search for "food stamps" and your state name and "application".

Go to your local Social Services offices and make sure you have all your paperwork that shows your current income and SSDI status and tell them you want to apply.
