removed floor tiles and now need to loose black glue?

we want a stained plain concrete floor look. the floor does need a bunch of patches done. skim coat probably won't stick because of the black old glue. will like a ardex product stick and last as a finish coat? how do i achieve this surface prep?

Update:

This sounds like your on concrete to remove the glue. Depending on the size, a hand held grinder will grind down the glue, however this is a dirty job. In the corners the best tool would be a rockwell sonic or equivalent to it. Dermal has one which can get into small areas also.
