which customary unit is best for measuring the height of a flagpole?

it depends. if you live in america it would be feet or yards, if you live elsewhere it would kilometers…and whatever else is their unit for height.
all the math problems i've ever gotten with a question like that have been in yards i think. but if you're more familiar with feet, you should probably go with that.

This was in the scientific questions category so I'm going to treat it so...
Regardless of where you live, you should use SI units.
Obviously, we want a measure of distance, so some scale of meters will be used. Flag poles can be enormous, so centimetres, millimetres or anything smaller is out of the question, even for smaller flagpoles this is not customary. Using kilometres is absurd, so METRES is the only reasonable solution.
