Is Human Intellect responsible for Global Warming?
Do you think one of the major causes for global warming can be attributed to the activities of man. The man which thinks of himself as the most intelligent thing on earth?
"All across the world, in every kind of environment and region known to man, increasingly dangerous weather patterns and devastating storms are abruptly putting an end to the long-running debate over whether or not climate change is real. Not only is it real, it's here, and its effects are giving rise to a frighteningly new global phenomenon: the man-made natural disaster."
BARACK OBAMA, speech, Apr. 3, 2006
Are human desires the root cause of Global Warming? If no, Why? If yes, what can we do in order to get rid of them?
God Bless

it's not so much our intellect but our short-term vision (mainly clouded by greed and this insane desire to be immediately satisfied) which i hold responsible for global warming. i really do not think we can eradicate our 'desires', they are so much a part of our human nature. we need to think about our planet differently, it needs to be accorded some rights, a certain measure of protection and that needs to be enshrined in law and, most importantly, strictly enforced. we might try to think more of other species (the fauna as well as the flora) as co-habitors, having rights too. the other significant thing we need to do is wean ourselves off from our fossil fuel addiction.

edit: i said above that changing the way we think, our attitude, would be a significant thing we could do... your question (and my reply to it) have stuck in my head and i have changed my mind. it wouldn't be significant.
i think that it is the least we can do, to show some respect, some appreciation, some love, or, at the very least, a degree of courtesy, to this, our planet. it is our home, as sagan said, it is the only one we have, it enables and sustains life, it is more than a life support system. we disrespect it on a daily basis, most of us are perpetual offenders. i mean, it's not as if we haven't had a fair while to get to know it, to understand how it works, to interact with it. and, yet, we remain stubbornly deaf to its increasingly desperate cries for help. we should start listening.

Your question is very controversial. You will get different answers from different people. Here's my answer, based on my research. First off, they used to call it "Global Warming" but now, as you can see in Obama's speech, they call it "Climate Change." The reason for this is because many scientists don't agree that there is such a thing as Global Warming. In fact, the news came out a few months ago that over the last ten years the planet's mean temperature has actually dropped, rather than increased. Thus, the name change. Many scientists think Climate Change is caused by rising CO2 levels in the atmosphere. These rising levels, they say, is because of fossil fuel burning--the oil we burn to run our cars and heat our homes, etc. However, other scientists point to the fact that in the history of earth, thousands and millions of years ago, there's been times when CO2 levels have been much higher than they are today. Obviously cars and heated homes weren't around millions of years ago. The bottom line is, no one knows whether Climate Change is caused by humans. Many scientists believe much more research needs to be done to answer the question.

If Human intellect or the development of science is responsible for the Global Warming It can also easily rectify the problem.
Human intellect is not reached the completeness of the development of science that is why this kind of confusions comes in the mind of human being.
As well as in the physical world is also seems to be in confusion.

As this chart (scroll down) demonstrates, the cold periods in earth's cycles are getting longer and colder both, indicating that we are nearing the 10,000 year cycle for being in a new ice age. It's all natural.
http://www.longrangeweather.com/global_t%E2%80%A6
The dips in that chart correspond to the low points in this chart, shown above instead of below the line
http://www.iceagenow.com/2010%E2%80%94wh%E2%80%A6 but the chart below that shows them below the line. Essentially they all point to the natural cycle that puts us close to the next ice age.
2000 scientists signed a full page newspaper advertisement dismissing the claims made by Al Gore. The weather may be shifting, but it certainly isn't getting warmer, not by those charts.
If I spoke in the language of religion (which I don't) I would say God is getting us all prepared right now for this new ice age. Look at the south, the Atlantic coast, Europe, China last year, the horrendous flooding in Australia. The weather is changing. You can't cut down the Amazon rain forest, the largest single weather making machine on earth, and not expect the weather to change.
But some of the changes you see are just that: variations caused by man. The rest of it is the natural coming of the next ice age, which is very predicable and very much "on time" in geological terms. It won't be too far off.

Human intellect, to the point that man will come up with any excuse to use as a tool to take power away from his fellow man. And use it over him.

with human life being being unable to exist without global warming i seriously doubt it.
we are however speeding it up witch is a bad thing

I believe so because since man has built things and polluted it has gotten worse. It wasn't always like this, so I believe it's man doing and Id think God is very pleased.

We consider ourselves the most intelligent but somehow part of our nature is to damage everything, because everything to damage is free..

Human intellect? Why, do we fart more when we think?
