What was Jesus Religion? Did he have one?Does he want all these different Religions? Which 1 is the right one?

I believe in Jesus and know that he is my Savior but Should I follow Religion? If we Christians all believe in Jesus, then I don't understand why there are so many different churches to choose from!! This can really confuse someone who is just learning about the Christian Faith!

The true one is the one who aknowledges God as supreme Ps 83:18, Christ as the apointed Messiah & mediator between man & G. 1 Tim 2:5 the one who remembers & respects the ''OT'' the torah & it's principles, knowing that the law was a tutor leading to Messiah & the new covenant. Gal 3:17-22, Col 2:13-14 The one that obeys ALL of the commandments that Jesus taught & preached about & who truly believes this book we have to be the infallable word of God. It certainly was seen as an obscure cult when it arrived on the scene. Social stratification in virtually ALL cultures made it highly taboo (the idea that all humans were really on equal footing was foreign to that world which was brought up mostly on Greek and Roman ideals) Even Judaism, from which Jesus came, had become bogged down by classes.

To Rome, the dominant power of that time, Christianity was almost the only hated group. Rome had a policy of incorporating conquered lands' gods into their system, and Christianity swore to only one God.

As for the denominations, there has always been different ones. Each culture developed differently with different schools of thought and so rationalizes in different ways. In America, home of the dissected Protestantism, different groups have reinterpreted Scriptures (some come from cultural redefining of ideals, not unlike Rome's adopted form of Christianity)

In my opinion, it is best to see the Scriptures free of tradition, as it was to early Christians.

Keila, If you have repented and confessed that Lord Jesus is the Son of God and you believe on Him for salvation then you are saved. Hallelujah! The reason there is so many churches?

2 Timothy 4:2-3 "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables."

God knew this would happen! Doubt not the validity or authority of God's word. This abundance of churches is not difficult simply for choosing a physical building, but because there is so much crazy teaching going on. If you are seeking the truth, which teachings do you listen to? The Bible says "they will not endure sound doctrine...they shall turn away their ears from the truth". How do you know what to listen to? What do you follow? The Holy Bible, plain and simple, nothing else. There are only three conditions.

1.) You gotta be saved and looking for answers, otherwise you won't find them

2.) You gotta have the correct Bible, otherwise you ain't getting the whole truth and nothing but the truth

3.) You gotta read that correct Bible, otherwise you won't know "Hath God said?" or not.

Assuming you have condition one covered, condition two is the King James Version and condition three is in your hands. There are free resources such as http://www.biblegateway.com/versions/King-James-Ve... to read it and http://av1611.com/kjbp/kjv-dictionary/kjv-dictiona... in case you come across one of those few "archaic" words. It's better to learn a new "old word" and read the inspired word of God then to read a watered down man-made paraphrased book. Paraphrased isn't what God said, it's what some man said he thinks God said. I would rather have God's word and ask the Holy Ghost for wisdom. As far as the actual bible itself (you're gonna want one in your hand instead of just on the computer screen) make sure it is the Authorized King James Bible, not the NKJV.

If you have just confessed the Lord Jesus and want some guidance on where to start, contact me. I can't teach anybody anything, but I can point you in a good direction. The Gospel of John is a great starting point if you haven't read it yet. Any other questions, let me know, and always be in prayer.

Jesus was a Jew. He was also a Jewish teacher, ie: a rabbi.

The Christian religions credit him with founding Christianity.

If you need help choosing among the various versions of Christianity, you must read up on them.

A web site like this one won't help you. You can find lots of info at the library and ask people in real life that you trust.

Jesus was Jewish but, the Torah has become corrupted. same with the bible of the Christian faith, the words have been changed and corrupted, there are mathematical errors in the quran proven by many scholars. the only religion with a non-corrupted book is Islam. Islam is the right religion and the Sunni Muslims are the correct type of Muslims. we follow exactly as the Quran says. go to http://www.peacetv.tv/ and listen to Dr.Zakir

Jesus was Jewish, and to me, Christianity is not a religion...it's a relationship with Christ. The word religion means nothing...Jesus means everything. Try a non-denominational Christian church...Calvary chapels are good. They simply teach from the Bible. God bless you, and you can be a Christian by just knowing God and studying His word.

The religion Jesus would approve of is the one which follows his directions: There is only one which is doing so.

Go therefore and make disciples (Matthew 28:19)

Jesus was a Jew. The start of the Chritain faith was to minister to Jews. Chritians didn't break off from the Jews till the stephen was stoned. and weren't called christians till the message hit the gentiles, and it was meant as an insult.

“And (remember) when Allaah will say (on the Day of Resurrection): 'O ‘Eesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)! Did you say unto men: “Worship me and my mother as two gods besides Allaah?”’ He will say: ‘Glory be to You! It was not for me to say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, You would surely have known it. You know what is in my inner‑self though I do not know what is in Yours; truly, You, only You, are the All‑Knower of all that is hidden (and unseen).

    117. ‘Never did I say to them aught except what You (Allaah) did command me to say: “Worship Allaah, my Lord and your Lord.” And I was a witness over them while I dwelt amongst them, but when You took me up, You were the Watcher over them; and You are a Witness to all things’”

    [al-Maa'idah 5:117]

It says in the American Encyclopedia:

The belief in the Oneness of God – as a theological movement – began at a very early stage in history, and in fact it preceded the belief in trinity by many decades. Christianity developed from Judaism, and Judaism firmly believes that there is one God.

The path that led from Jerusalem (the home of the first disciples of Christ) to Nicea (where it was decided in 325 CE that Christ was equal to God in essence and eternal nature) can hardly be described as a straight path.

The doctrine of trinity which was affirmed in the fourth century CE bears no resemblance to the original teachings of Christ concerning the nature of God. Au contraire, it is the opposite, a deviation from that teaching. Hence it developed in opposition to the belief in One God… (27/294).

The French Orientalist Leon Joteh, in his book “An Introduction to Islamic philosophy” is of the view that the origin of the Christian trinity is to be found in Greek philosophy, specifically in the ideas of modern Platonism, which took the basis of the idea of trinity as a view of the Creator of the universe from Plato, then developed it to a great extent, so that the resemblance between this idea and Christianity became greater. So (in their view) the Creator, the One Who is absolutely perfect, appointed two intermediaries between him and mankind, who emanated from Him, and were also part of Him at the same time, meaning that they are contained in His essence. These two entities are reasoning and divine spirit. Then he said:

The marriage of Jewish belief and Greek philosophy did not only produce philosophy, rather it produced a religion too, namely Christianity which imbibed many ideas from the Greeks. The Christian concept of divinity is taken from the same source as modern Platonism. Hence you see many similarities between the two, although they may vary in some details. They are both based on a belief in trinity, in which the three “persons” are one.

“And the Jews say: ‘Uzayr (Ezra) is the son of Allaah, and the Christians say: Messiah is the son of Allaah. That is their saying with their mouths, resembling the saying of those who disbelieved aforetime. Allaah’s Curse be on them, how they are deluded away from the truth!”

    [al-Tawbah 9:30]

And Allaah is the Source of strength.
