New Zodiac? Don't be ridiculous.?

"Your zodiac sign may not actually be your zodiac sign anymore.

Astronomer Parke Kunkle says that due to changes in the Earth's alignment the dates of many zodiac signs have changed, according to NBC. In addition, there may be a 13th Zodiac sign: Ophiuchus.

Kunkle says that as the Earth and Sun slowly move the signs gradually change, as expected.

The change didn't happen over night either. The 12 signs were designated to different periods of the year almost 3,000 years ago, when astrology began, and since then the Earth's position in relation to the sun has changed.

While the sign many people were born under may now be different, it shouldn't affect horoscope readings, according to NBC."

As you may notice we're talking about an Astronomer, here. News about Ophiuchus don't hold any ground at all in both astrological society as well as astrology itself. Why?

Here are the reasons!

1. Zodiac was never divided by constellations. It was divided by Earths ecliptic. 360 degrees and Each sign received 30* degrees, respectfully.

2. Even if it was true, Ophiuchus would fall into either Sagittarius or Scorpio and wouldn't change anything, anything at all.

3. Zodiac was divided thanks to the elements, however if Zodiac would divide itself based upon constellations nothing would be proportional at all. Each constellation would receive different partition of elliptical degrees, and, furthermore, we're not talking about only 12 constellations but many, many more.

The question is - Do you trust people who researched astrology and know what they talk about or people who never studied astrology and yet dare to talk about it as they see fit?

Update:

"That sign was here but not noticed" - You're wrong. The constellation was here and Ophiuchus was here alongside with Spider and Orion, however each and every of them showed to be completely incorrect.

That being said, as I've said it already - Ophiuchus is a constellation, not a Zodiac sign. Those are two different subjects and factors. Astronomers never studied astrology and that's the point of the story. Don't listen to propaganda and me seeing people talking about Ophiuchus really makes a lot of frustrations since they know nothing about astrology, yet they believe if it's on "the nexs" which is highly typical for stupidity.

For you to say that the people that talk of the 13th sign know nothing about astrology is completely inaccurate. You have no credible sources supporting your claim that these people know nothing about astrology. The way the see fit? How do they speak of it as they see fit? I have analyzed this theory of the 13th sign from numerous experts based on credible unbiased sources and I believe that this is in fact the 13th sign which was basically " dumped " a long time ago lol. This did not just come about out of left field this claim comes from scientific data that dates back a looooong time before Christ.

I think people should not listen to biased emotional responses and do the homework themselves. I also think people should have an open mind to understand that in the end humans were the ones that came about all of these theories in the first place. You have to understand to 31 percent of the population astrology gives the people an essence and a baseline for who they are. To come out and say you sign is no longer your sign to these people is almost like saying the religion or spiritual path you follow is false and this is what it really is. Can you imagine the outrage and controversy? How dare they tell me who I am is false?

There is no valid scientific data that supports who you are as a person or your character is based by your birth date. However, even if you do fully believe in the zodiac signs have an open mind and don't see this as some sort of betrayal but as merely an update because believe it or not after thousands of years things are bound to change lol.

I would like to know what other respected astronomers say about all of this.

Also, I wonder if people felt similarly when the calendar system changed from Julian to Gregorian, or having to accept the heliocentric over geocentric universe.

Big deal if it changes. I'm sure that the astrological qualities given to each sign will have to be updated as well.

Poor scorpio is only six days? Hmm

Thank god there are others who agree with me . I'm a mutable gemini NEVERRRR a taurus & my taurus boyfriend isn't firey enough to be an aries. All that Ophiuchus is, is a constellation & if it was remotely involved with the zodiac, it would represent a cusp between scorpio & sagittarius , how difficult.

The change is so ridiculous. Now

I am a Virgo. I never get along with Virgo.

I am proud to be a scorpio and I'll be a scorpio

    no matter what.

  • When you answered my question, I thought about it more sensibly. It doesn't make a difference. That sign was here but not noticed, but now it is. I'm gonna stay a Scorpio regardless of what they say.

Goodness I know, I laughed at how it now says I'm a Cancer. When I'm Leo Sun and Leo Rising. Definitely always will be a Leo, people can tell as soon as they meet me! I pay no attention to the new ones.

    Then it's good. I'm a Gemini. I never felt like a Cancer.
