I have a question.............?
Sorry, I know this might sound stupid, but I've been thinking about this all day.
Scenario: Jane has always considered herself straight, she's only ever dated guys, looked at guys, felt anything for guys (I mean, on a romantic level), never had any romantic feelings for women, never dated women...you get my point..
BUT one day Jane meets Caroline. Caroline is a lesbian. The two of them become good friends. They get to know each other over time and Jane starts having romantic feelings for Caroline. Feelings she'd only have towards a man. Feelings she'd never had with another woman.
Caroline and Jane start dating.
Does this make Jane a lesbian now? OR is she simply just a straight girl who happens to be dating another person who just happens to be female?
Told you it was a stupid question ;)
Thanks everyone. :)

this would never happen. I'm straight and as I've told my hubby and other guys who tend to have this debate there is absolutely no chance that I'm going to wake up one morning and say hey honey I feel like being a lesbian, Not going to happen, A truly straight person would never date another person of the same sex. they might be very close friends but nothing in the sex department would go on.I'd sooner say that Jane was bi and never really acknowledged it because she always had a man in her life that she was compatible with until caroline came along.

Labels, when it comes down to it, are just what society sees in people. So... Jane might be a lesbian or she could be bisexual or pansexual or straight and Caroline could be an exception. That's something only she would know. Unfortunately, society would label her a lesbian because she is with a girl. Hopefully that helps.

To be honest there is never a reason for labels... The big question is does Jane think she is a lesbian or not? If she doesn't know that's ok too... It's her life to live and love as she wants no matter the "title." "Titles" seem to get in the way...

Of course she is just a straight girl dating another person who just happens to be female!
No way that could be considered lesbian At all.

That describes my current relationship, and I don't think it matters, labels aren't necessary, and they aren't correct either.
Just to illustrate, the below link is to what would be considered quite a limited test of sexuality, take it, it will show you how sexuality is more of a spectrum than anything else, and that it is certainly not limited to two or three boxes.

she isnt technically a lesbian... Caroline seems to be what they call an "exception"... that is all she will ever be
