Should I switch from HIIT?

I've been trying the HIIT workout over the last couple weeks, but I'm not really sweating that much (even when air temperature is the same). Therefore, I don't think I'm burning as many calories. I used to use the elliptical machine and end my workout completely soaked. Should I return to the elliptical?

Sweat has nothing to do with calories. You can sweat when sitting still, it's just a heat regulation mechanism.

You're probably getting a much better workout with the HIIT than the elliptical, the elliptical isn't a great piece of equipment when compared to others that are available. You should be mixing in some lower intensity cardio (jogging, elliptical, or cycling perhaps?) in addition to your HIIT workouts.

First of all, sweating shouldn't really be the gauge for an effective workout.

Also, make sure you're doing the HIIT right. You really need to be going at about 95% of your maximum effort during the high intensity phase, and then around 50-60% during the other phase and go for around 15 minutes.

It's been proven over and over to be the best way to lose fat while maintaining muscle, so if those are your goals then stick with it.
