Is the "Rocky" Series the best Movie series ever?

Back in 1976, "Rocky" won three Oscars and won Best Picture and that says a lot. Personally I loved the first movie but as the sequels came it got weirder and weirder. Have you noticed that sequels tend to go overboard...well, the "Rocky" series sure did. I hear that there is another sequel on the way. Sniff, sniff, sob.

No, first and second Rocky were good story and character wise, by the time Rocky III came round it was more just silly entertainment and music montages, I mean Rocky fighting Mr T and Hulk Hogan? What the...and Rocky IV the whole movie is made up of music montages. Rocky V was more sombre, and the the last film Rocky Balboa was alright but very farfetched (a supposedly 55year old Rocky going head to head with the current chamption heavy weight?) Even real life George Foreman was 10 years younger at 45 when he reclaimed the Heavy Weight Title.

We do have the franchise to thank for one of the greatest workout songs ever in Eye of the Tiger though :) dant dant dant dant dah...(pause) dant dant dahhhhh....

I would say No. IMHO the only good films are Rocky I & VI. Rocky IV is a fun and entertaining flick, best montages ever! But its kind of dumb. Then again the series is 6 movies long so there will be movies that suck. The best series of films I would say Star Wars Original trilogy, Jason Bourne, Toy Story, also Jackass if you are into that kind of thing. lol.

Rocky's cool but its not the BEST movie series out there.

no way ! there are far better films out there that have run in series....not mentioning any but i really think something is wrong if you are frothing over them.

try leaving stallone alone for a while and see if it is him you actually like or his films ;) maybe a bit of a thing for the actor and not the actual films . lol

Rocky is up there, but I rank Lord of the Rings highest.

Other great series include Lethal Weapon, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Terminator, Alien, Star Wars and Die Hard.
