Does anyone who has children of their own *really* believe that babies are sinless? See details......?
Children don't suddenly discover right and wrong at some mysterious age between 7 and 12: Any parent knows full well that babies are learning right and wrong from the very start, as they discover the world around them. They learn what their parents expect of them, and it doesn't take long for them to start asserting their own will.
Isn't this disobedience? Isn't it sin?
Did I say it wasn't normal?
javadic, that sounds very logical, but does it have anything to do with historic Christian doctrine? Can I find evidence of it in the Bible?
Sage, do you have evidence of that?
"seeker of Holy God," what is your source for this "adult mind" concept?
Reoriented: Throwing a tantrum when they don't get their way *is* a sin.

The mysterious age between 7 and 12 is the age of accountability. It is an ancient developmental concept. Before the age of accountability, children do not have enough life experience to truly understand the difference between right and wrong. They may well, and frequently do, disobey, but it's not sin, it's immaturity. God never condemned anyone for lack of life experience. To say a baby sins is rather like saying a pet sins. No, they don't. They aren't capable of making adult human decisions.

All of what you describe sounds "normal."
We are born innocent, but inherently sinful. You're right! It doesn't take long and a baby knows exactly what he or she needs to do to get their parents attention, or how to "pull your chain" so to speak.
Accountability is yet another issue. You're only accountable when you understand exactly what you are doing and why. Much of what babies and toddlers do is misdirected. Like they might cry or say they have an "owie" because they want to be held... is that a sin? No. It's the way they know how to get what they want/need at the time.

It's called original sin which we have all inherited through Adam and Eve.
Even though they haven't yet reached the age of reason and don't know the difference between right and wrong, they still assert their wills and are still subject to the same wilful desires all humans have.
Little children unless they are discouraged from doing wrong will assert their wills and go into tantrums, which is a product of original sin (even though they don't understand it all).

They are innocent but they suffer the consequences of sinfulness, sickness, even death. Instinctive actions that call for attention or food are not sin. Crapping on themselves and vomiting on their parents is not sin. Fondling their own genitals is not sin.
Demanding the attention necessary for survival is not sin. Failure to pray is not a sin; they must first be capable of recognizing the boundary between self and others.

No it's not because they don't know that when they do something bad that it is indeed "bad." Yes, they are learning all the time from their parents and from the environment, but their brains are not developed enough to comprehend right and wrong until about the age of 8.

yes
sin is breaking the law of god from some one with a adult mind
children do not have adult minds and can not know what sin is or understand it
they follow the desires of their body or mind
i see it i want it so they take it
their child mind does not understand it may be a sin to do so
so they are acting out of ignorance to the laws of god
they are not able to comprehend it is wrong to do it
that comprehension is not achieved until they have a adult mind

Its a matter of choice- learned behavior so parents need to attempt to be good role models which is very hard during these wicked times.

Your answer is in James 4:17 "Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin."
