DCs answer sounds more correct than the others as IT takes into account that the tub is CAST IRON, NOT steel, and Cast Iron is significantly more valuable than steel.
Here in the SE corner of Texas on the shore of the Gulf of Mexico, steel is going for about US 12 cents per pound [in lots or batches of 100 pounds or more], and thus a Cast Iron should be significantly more.
Another thing, all scrap metal prices VARY on a daily basis, and you need to call a local scrap metals dealer [a scrap yard itself, NOT a middleman!] to find the current value.
Explain what you have and they can give you the current price per pound and whether they discount payment for loads below 100 pounds, or if they pay a premium for scrap loads over 100 pounds. By itself, a Cast Iron bathtub will weigh over 100 pounds.
Another thing is the 100 pound qualifier applies to each different metal. For example, 100 pounds of mixed Steel, Cast Iron, Copper, and Aluminum will not qualify for the higher "bulk" value. You must have 100 or more pounds of the SAME type of metal.

Scrap goes for the 9 to 10 cents a pound. If it is real cast iron it should sell for 3 times that. My buddy just scrapped a cast iron tub and got 100 bucks.

Yes, I always break up old cast iron tubs to remove them. use a 4 pond hammer, wear gloves and googles. you will get sharp slivers of enamel coming off as you break it.

depends on weight, but it's worth it; probably 8-12 dollars easy.

$0.09 to $0.10 per pound. As the cost of new steel has increased, scrap steel prices have not gone up in 30 years.

9 cents a lb. but it depends where you take it,some places pay more or less.
