Is anyone else afraid of the officials screwing up in the Super Bowl?
I always disagree with all of the people who whine about officiating, but I can't get rid of the feeling that the refs will screw up calls in Pittsburgh's favor. First, one of the refs from Super Bowl XL admitted messing up in that game. Secondly, Pittsburgh has a reputation of being a rough, physical team. So for some of the borderline penalties that would get called against Green Bay, if the Steelers did those things people would say, "Oh, that's just Steeler football". Third, Ed Hochuli scares me to death. He always seems to be in the middle of controversies. I have no idea who officiated the NFC game, which means I'd feel a lot better if they got to do the Super Bowl. Someone talk some sense into me, please. And be nice.

Pittsburgh gets more bad calls AGAINST them, because they have the reputation of a physical team.
refs feels they think to protect the other team
Harrison gets held all day, but very few calls
even the announcers have mentioned that

Yes I am. Even I thought the Steelers got away with bad calls in Super Bowl XL. If the Steelers are going to win, I want it to be fair and square. If the Packers win, I want it to be fair and square. I don't want any controversy after this game.
@Ashley, how did the refs screw you guys? I saw NOTHING in that game that showed favoritism towards the Steelers. If you're going to say the Jets got cheated, please give some examples to back up your argument, because everyone else on this site doesn't seem to think the Jets got robbed.

A. there is exhaustive info that the ball crossed the line and it grow to be a landing. B. despite if the Steelers could have lost that sport, they could have nevertheless made the playoffs. C. They Steelers need to be there if for no different reason than their 12-4 record throughout a season wherein that they had the toughest schedule in the NFL. D. do no longer watch the SB in case you do no longer opt to, yet do no longer pass off fake information in case you don't be attentive to what you're speaking approximately.

Last year the players voted Ed Hochuli the second best ref in the league. That's #2 out of 142 full time and substitute refs. If he wasn't a good ref, he and his crew wouldn't be doing playoff games.

1: Yes.
2: They've admitted MANY screwups vs us. We lost an AFC Champ game vs JAX on a quarterback run that they said "Oh, we saw a few holds on that play, they just weren't called." (MANY MANY more examples if you want them.)
"Steeler football" has caused at LEAST 75 yards in penalties and cost Harrison $125,000 in fines... one the flag was out before he hit the guy.
I've said many times... Goodell wants the NFL to resemble the NBA. Scores in the 70's and above with the defense just there to pat the offense on the back and say good job.
I bet Clay (my personal favorite def player after Troy) would be in debt if he played for the steelers.
16.5 sacks * $50k/sack (he's not very nice about sacking qb's)

I wanted the Steelers to win in SB XL so I didn't care. But yeah it can pose a problem if the officiating become shoddy so it's going to be tough.
Here's hoping the Packers will take this one.

I hope not. The officiating is the NFL's dirty little secret. I think its as bad as its ever been. Most of these guys are like in their 60's and the game is too fast for them.
