Why am I not losing weight?
Let me start by saying I KNOW this is a cliche question, and I know people get frustrated by questions like this, but I have looked at the old ones and nothing seems to fit my circumstances. If you have something mean to say, please leave now.
Here are the facts. I am medically "obese" (not morbidly obese, my BMI clocks in at 33) however also have a (doctor diagnosed) large frame. I have a 2 year old child, and after having her it has been incredibly, incredibly hard for me to lose weight. I breastfed for 1 year and 3 months, but gained weight steadily throughout, regardless of calorie consumption exercise etc.
3 months ago I decided I had had enough. I do not WANT to be "obese" anymore, and Ive been making a dedicated effort to lose weight. Eating 1500 calories a day, and exercise. By exercise I mean - I cycle to work (30 minutes one way at fairly high speed) 2 times a week. On the days I dont cycle, I go for a 1 hour brisk walk, with the 14KG toddler in the stroller on top of the other things I do on a daily basis. On average I cover about 7-8 KMS in that hour. I sweat during it (Ive heard this is a good indicator of burning body fat) and last week, after gaining 2lbs I went to my doctor, who has run a thyroid test (no results in yet) but basically was pretty nonchalant and just said "these things take time and its best to do it slowly." I feel that he thinks I just sit on the sofa all day and eat donuts.
I eat alot of vegetables, and do eat the recommended carbs a day, although through wholegrains (brown bread rice etc) so Im avoiding the dreaded white sugars. Trying to eat small and often to help my metabolism.
Thank you if you got this far. I would really appreciate any advice you have for me. I feel that, at the weight I am now, weight should be falling off. Im finding it very hard to keep motivated to keep going on. I am gaining weight and not losing inches. Although my fitness is increasing, Its rather discouraging. I hope someone can give me some advice as to what to do, or what Im doing wrong. Please dont be mean. Im trying very hard.

I'm trying to gain weight. Its taking forever. But I stay focused. Try to put it in perspective: if it took you a long time to pile on the weight it should take you longer, much longer in fact, to burn it off. Don't become too down-hearted about it.
Now regarding exercise, I sure you walk, and cycle a lot like you said you have, but run. Run, run, run. If you can't, jog to build up to running. It will work faster. It takes me 30 mins of high intensity running to burn off 360 cals. Thats not a lot really, despite my weight. It takes a hell of a lot of time. That was really the only thing that stuck out in the question, really. You may walk a lot, but you have to be sweating buckets to burn it off. Theres no real easy way around it. You gotta run yourself into the ground.
If your diet is the same, and you're a strict you should be burning it off.
Best of luck
Edit: I wouldn't take notice to weight like 2lbs. I can lose 4lbs in 4 hours by not drinking or eating. It could be water weight or just food weight. Take no notice of this. Wait until you hit double digits....

Hi ,
there are no miracles to loose weight. You will need to change your eating habits, learn new healthier rules and exercise much more. This is not easy and require discipline and above all motivation.
I was grossly overweight. Somehow I could not manage to loose weight. The truth is I hated exercising at a gym, or I was not able to resist cravings. Then something happened: I fell on the icy pavement and broke a bone in my left leg. Had to stay immobilized about 12 weeks, with casts etc..
I read a book on nutrition and started to practice, not just reading it. It worked. By changing my food intake I discovered that my cravings disappeared, my level of energy shot up and I lost weight while keeping muscles.
I was just eating the wrong addictive kind of food. I dont know if this will answer your question exactly, as people often want fast results without changing anything. The book I read is accessible here and frankly, its a must read for anyone tired of being overweight.

I will try to keep it simple. Your metabolism is basically the rate at which your body burns calories to create energy. So the faster your metabolism, the faster you burn calories and the easier it is to lose unwanted weight. To boost your metabolism naturally you just need to eat the right foods.
You can sit down and literally eat a 1,000-calorie dinner and yet be absolutely starving just a few hours later and the reason is simple: Because your body didnt get what it needed in those 1,000 calories so it sends signals to your brain telling you to ingest more calories and thus, the late-night cravings. That means that the surest way to end those late-night cravings and keep your weight loss goals on track is to eat a more balanced, nutritious diet that actually gives your body what it needs.
It's VERY EASY to lose weight if you eat the right foods. Check out Dr. Charles Livingston's video here: http://www.sexyjese.com/ - it will blow your mind.

The brief reply to this question is, lamentably, "It is dependent." The breasts are composed of 2 primary varieties of tissue: the glandular tissue that makes the breast do what it's developed to do (dispense milk via the nipples whilst lactating), and the fatty tissue that includes the leisure of it. Some females have extra glandular than fatty tissue, others the opposite direction round, and a few have approximately same quantities. So, for a few females, once they acquire weight (i.e. fats), it's saved so much rapidly of their breasts. Other females, no longer such a lot. Look at your possess historical past of gaining weight, and you'll be competent to check simply wherein your frame has a tendency to retailer extra fats. Is it on your breasts, or your hips, or your thighs? Another factor to do not forget is, whilst a few females, who tend to retailer their extra fats of their boobs, shed some pounds, the boobs keep the equal measurement; others lose the load of their boobs once they shed some pounds total. It is tough to provide a definitive, one-measurement-suits-all reply to this question, considering the fact that each girl is distinct.

Your diet is made up of what you eat. There are many different types of diets.
A healthy diet:
* Emphasizes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and fat-free or low-fat milk and milk products.
* May include lean meats, poultry, fish, beans, eggs and nuts.
* Is low in saturated fats, trans fat, cholesterol, salt (sodium), and added sugars.
There are many different types of diets. Some, like a vegetarian diet, don't include meats.
Others, like the Mediterranean diet, describe a pattern of eating with an emphasis on less
saturated fat than most Americans eat.
Many people follow specific diets to lose weight. Some of these diets are fad or crash diets
that severely restrict calories or the types of food you are allowed to eat.
These diets rarely lead to permanent weight loss and often don't provide all of the nutrients
your body needs. To lose weight, you need to use more calories than you eat.
Portion control is the key. When trying to lose weight, you can still eat your favorite foods
as long as you pay attention to the total number of calories that you eat.

This may sound crazy but go and have an allergy scratch test done. You may have developed an allergy to something you consume on a regular basis. One of my friends wives had the same issue and discovered a mild gluten allergy that caused her to gain weight. She had never had weight issues or the allergy until after pregnancy either.

Find an alternative stress-reliever. When you’ve had an unsatisfactory day, don’t reach for the doughnuts – get a new coping mechanism that works available for you, not against you. Listening in your favourite album, looking at loved ones pics on Facebook, or just getting away from home for a walk will provide help to focus on the positives.

Swap a bowl of pasta for the bowl of vegetables. You can save up to 200 calories by lowering the starch and adding greens.

If you ever go to bed after 11 pm and get less than 8 hours sleep per night then that could be the cause!
Maybe you overeat too; but you might also need to give yourself time.
