In your opinion, is Oprah Winfrey intelligent?

She started out life in poverty, suffering abuse and being told she'd not amount to anything. Now she is the wealthiest woman in the US. I'd say she's pretty much a marketing genius with amazing resilience and drive.

Anyone who manages to get as far as she did is intelligent. I'm not much into talk shows in general but the few Oprah Winfrey shows I watched were interesting. So yeah she's talented.

Intelligent? Sure. Success of that nature doesn't come from stupidity.

Talented? As a host, maybe. I don't know what you mean by talent, however.

It's very rare or damn near impossible for someone to become a billionaire if they lack intelligence. If a moron were to inherit or win a billion dollars, they wouldn't be able to hold on to it for long. She made hers.

She is intelligent and talented.

Intelligent enough to build herself into income most of us will never know. I'm personally sick of seeing her on her stupid magazine EVERY month. But she's doing something right.

She has talents of course, but she doesn't seem to be literate in the sciences. I've heard her show put forward all sorts of ridiculous supernatural woo woo.

You don't get to be a BILLIONAIRE in your life by being stupid.

Yeah she's talented . . knows which buttons to press.

There are too many worse people on teh planet . . .take those snake oil salesmen they call TV preachers.

I don't understand the answers equating success and intelligence. They're not necessarily related. If you need an example, think of all the bosses you've ever had. Oprah's empathetic and seems to carry herself well. That's years of being on camera, though. It's a skill that can be learned. Business school churns out idiots who carry themselves well and seem empathetic. Newscasters are usually good looking people groomed to sound reasonable reading other people's words. They don't need to be smart themselves. I mean, they taught Tyra Banks to do the same thing Oprah does and Tyra (whom I like a lot) is a bone-headed, you-go-gurl supermodel. Oprah spawned two quacks: Dr. Oz and Dr. Phil. She was taken by them and then turned them over to her audience who were equally fooled. People just bent to her authority, assuming "Ah, she's good at some things so she must be good at everything." I'd guess she's of normal to slightly below average intelligence, like everyone answering this question with "you don't rule an empire by being dumb" which is historically inaccurate.
