The Cabinet meets every week and always has, on a Tuesday. Meetings vary in length depending on the Prime Minister's style of leadership, and can be as short as 30 minutes. The size of the Cabinet was similar under Gordon Brown.
The Labour Party, currently out of power, have an equivalent Shadow Cabinet, made up of Shadow Secretaries for each department of the government. They have no executive power, but instead "shadow" their counterparts, suggest alternatives, and advise the Leader of the Opposition (Ed Miliband)
