Need help planning family vacation to Orlando?

I am planning a family vacation with my husband, mother in law, sister in law, parents, older brother, younger sister and her friend (both are 16). We have never been to Orlando before. So far this is what I have planned.

1st night-getting settled into rental house

2nd day-Disney

3rd-Seaworld/beach

4th-fishing for the guys and shopping for the girls

5th and 6th day- Universal Studios

7th- Kennedy Space Center

My question is for the people who have been to the above attractions. How long did you spend at each? In particular, how long did it take you to tour Seaworld and the Kennedy Space Center? My concern is that the beach is over an hour from Orlando, so Im worried that we wont have time to do Seaworld and spend much time at the beach. Also, could we tour Seaworld and the Space Center on the same day and have entire day for Daytona?

Please give me your thoughts and suggestions!

Thanks in advance!

Update:

Thanks for the feedback. Here's the new plan. We are saving Disney for another trip.

day 1- arrive-downtown disney

day 2- seaworld

day 3- universal studios

day 4- kennedy space center (shuttle launch)

day 5- fishing and shopping

day 6- beach day

day 7- islands of adventure

day 8- depart

Any other suggestions and advice is still appreciated!

You have planned 1 day at Disney and 2 at Universal? Universal is just 2 parks. Disney is 4 parks. It would take at least 1 day per park to even begin to see Disney. Are you picking just one park, and which one? Some people call Magic Kingdom Disney. If that is the park you are seeing, you should know that it normally takes two days to cover it for most visitors.

Sea World is easily covered in a day, but personally, I would be too exhausted to try to cram a beach day and a park day into one. You may not realize how exhausted you get in touring a park. I think you are trying to combine way too many activities into this vacation. Stick to one or two things.

    Okay Here's some suggestions

1 - Good plan, you'll be tired from travelling.

2 - Universal Studio's. Realistically you can do it in one day because you can park hop - the studio side takes half a day even if you've never been there before. IOA will take a good chunk of your day.

3 - Seaworld. Seaworld will take you half a day, maybe 3/4s of a day if you look at every single thing and go to every show. I would say you could add maybe downtown Disney or citywalk at universal that night or perhaps International drive? There's tons of neat things to do.

4 - Fishing for the guys and shopping for the girls - good break in the middle of the week. Check out the outlets on I-Drive, they're great. The Florida mall is pretty sweet too.

5 & 6 - Disney ... You will use 2 days and be glad - and you can go to more than one park. Magic Kingdom and Epcot def take a day each, but if you wanted to skip things you could and end up doing all 4 parks if you get the park hopper option... i know people will go nuts over this suggestion but you need to figure out what you like and what you don't - maybe your age group will want to spend less time at MK and more at Hollywood Studio's?

7 - Kennedy Space Centre and Beach. It makes sense to drive out to the east coast once. Cocoa is actually right there and a nice beach, so you could go to KSC and then head to Cocoa...or the beaches around that area. I PERSONALLY like them better than Daytona.

As for your other questions, Kennedy Space Centre only takes a couple of hours. You could go there early in the morning and spend the whole day on the beach... plus if you go east once you knock out some of the driving.

If you have any other questions, just ask.

Your schedule seems extremely tight. This is vacation, don't try to cram too much in. Leave some time to relax. I can tell you for sure that you will not be able to see Disney in one day. For my family, we needed one day per park. (There are four parks in Disney World.) Same thing for Seaworld. Plan to spend the whole day there or a whole day at the beach. The 5th and 6th days seem good, one for Universal Studios, one for Islands of Adventure. If you plan to see Hogwarts, I would recommend going there early in the morning, as that section often reaches full capacity by 10:00. Also, fast passes would be a good investment. Though they may seem expensive, they are well worth it. If you are going to spend that much money to get into the park, you might as well buy fast passes so you can actually enjoy what you paid for.

Well, if you've never been to Orlando before I would spend more time at Disney. They're four parks, and big parks at that. Universal Studios is probably less stressful done in two days but just as enjoyable in one day, my family and I have done both before.

Downtown Disney is nice and all but all there is is shopping and restaurants. I can only spend three and a half hours there max.

It only took my family and I about four hours at sea world, but we only saw two shows.

    If I were you I would skip out on Downtown Disney all together and try to fit;

-Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios into one day.

-Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios into another day.

-And Magic Kingdom a day all on it's on.

Oh, and in my opinion Universals boardwalk puts Downtown Disney to shame ;D

if you're doing this for your toddlers and plan to spend all 4 days at a Disney park, then spend 2 days at Magic Kingdom and an afternoon each and every at Disney Studios and Animal Kingdom. They likely would not delight in EPCOT. you nevertheless have time to purchase "The Unofficial training guide to Walt Disney international 2009" at your community book shop. It has specified plans about at the same time as and the position to flow contained in the traveling plans financial ruin. My relatives and that i went in July '08, a miles extra busy time than once you're going. We not in any respect waited in line for better than 15 minutes for any experience, and in undemanding words somewhat longer for shows. We met various households using the same plans, and that all of them say they paintings completely. Do your spouse and youngsters a want and spend $20 on the e book. you isn't disillusioned.
