Calling all cooks--what would YOU make?
Hi there! I'm a writer and I've come seeking ideas. I need a dish (or two) a woman would cook for a man. My heroine's cooking dinner for the hero, who hasn't had a good home cooked meal since his wife died. I'd like it be something "feel good", and homey, that warms your tummy and just makes you feel like you've come home. You know what I mean(the proper word for this is eluding me at the moment; it's right on the tip of my tongue)? IOW, nothing fancy.
I'm banging my head over here trying to think of things and coming up with...well, not much. So, I'd be very grateful for any and all ideas!!
oh, BTW...I came here rather than looking up cooking websites because I wanted personal opinions. You're making dinner for someone you love; you want them to FEEL loved eating it. What do you make?
comfort food! thank you. Geez. Stuff just falls out of my brain at random sometimes.
you all are wonderful! lots of fantastic ideas. I'm going to have to think about this one to pick one.
Now I'm hungry! lol Thanks everybody!!

He need food for his soul aka soul food or comfort food. Comfort food for each individual varies depending on how you were raised, where you grew up, heritage, traditions, etc...
I'm a cook and my man is from Georgia. When he's having a bad day and I want him to feel loved, I'll whip up some meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Or slow cooked pulled pork and homemade macaroni and cheese.
However, if I were to cook for someone and want to give them some Italian love... I'd make some baked ziti with meatballs and sausage.
My grandparent's were Norwegian so baked salmon and potatoes was thier comfort food of choice. But there is also something soothing to the soul when a pot of slow cooked chili is served with some crispy, crusty corn bread.
Now I'm hungry!

Awesome Chicken Dish:
I take chicken breasts, smother them with sweet BBQ sauce, wrap with bacon and bake them. Then top with chedder and chives, bake till cheese is melted and them top with sour cream.
