  • Carry On Restrictions?

i'm going to be taking a short flight next week, and i haven't flown for 6 years. with all the baggage fees, i'd rather carry-on (i'm only going for 3 days). do the wheels of a suitcase count towards size restriction? it says bags need to be 22" x 14" x 9"

    my bag is 23" (1- 1.5 inches of that is the small wheels) x 13" x 8"

also, if it is a small carry on suitcase does everything (toiletries) need to be less than 3oz? what about my razor for shaving and tweezers?

  • Two Facebook Questions?

when you 'search' for someone on facebook, is it possible to narrow it down? for example can you look up someone by BOTH name and city/state, or name and what high school they went to?

also, my page name/account is my married name, but i also have my maiden name as my 'alternate' name, so it comes up in parenthesis after my maiden name on my wall. my question - are people able to search for me by my maiden name, or does it only show up on my wall?

  • "Crazy for You" teddy bear VTB co.?

my husband ordered this bear for me when he was deployed in iraq. little did he know that all orders were cancelled one week later.

i did receive it, and have kept it in it's box ever since. not so much because i wanted to preserve it, but when your spouse is overseas, how do you explain, to your friends/family, that it is a gift? not everyone understands dark humor.

anyway, i was just wondering what it is worth now. it sold for $69.95 (not including s/h), but has gone up due immediate end of distribution (as per the request of the medical society) and cult following.

i've tried to look it up. i'm just curious. anyone that can help me know? like i said, it's far too sentimental, but maybe in 15 years it could help my daughter through college?

  • lucid dreaming question/help?

i have had odd dreams my whole life. at a young age i found out i could control them, by theory of logic. meaning my brain said 'this is too odd to be real, therefore it must be a dream, so i am in control'. i have always been strangely realistic and aware. for years i never had problems sleeping, let alone disturbing dreams (not to be confused with nightmares).

i have been an insomniac for at least the past 7 years (and yes, a lot has been going on for those 7 years). my only escape is my sleep and dreams, which have been becoming more vivid and disturbing. every now and then i have great dream i want to stay in, but always wake up, disappointed to not finish the dream. (oh, and wanting to finish the dream is a good night!)

knowing that this is my only, and wishfully, calm time, i want to go back to my youth and be able to have more control in my dream state.

can anyone recommend books, websites, or personal techniques for lucid dreaming. i would hope having a bit of control would lessen my fitful dreams and help with my sleep. i have been in control of my sleep and dreams before, just not as aware back then as i could be today.

please, any recommendations, techniques, etc. would help. i'm at my wits end with insomnia and crazy @ss dreams that leave me feeling even more tired than when i actually fell asleep.

  • Does anyone get Scholastic Parent & Child Magazine?

does anyone have the recent 'back to school' issue handy?

i accidentally threw mine out. in it is a page with 'road trip' items/must haves. there is a 'road trip' bag for kids (at the bottom of the page). it holds drinks, snacks, toys, etc. in an organized manor.

if anyone has this issue, could you please tell me the company name, name of the bag, and/or a website to find it at.

  • am i the only spouse that seems to have pts?

everyone was so worried about my dh. going to afghanistan and iraq......... leaving behind a newborn and a spouse. he came back safe and sound (thank god), both times. he will not talk about it to me (his spouse), and i don't expect him to. he has other men that have been there to compare stories with. i understand me not being there, or wanting to explain it to me, for fear of me worrying more.

but... nobody asks about how i am, or our child. am i being selfish? he is dealing better than me. he also has others to talk to that have been there. we are no longer in the military, so i don't have the other wives that understand what it's like on the other end. people just want to know what it was like for him. "wow, he was in iraq? did he kill anyone?" that same ignorant bull s@#t. i'm still a stay at home mom, now in an even stranger state (not military based, so other moms don't understand). dh seems to be adapting, but it's his hometown. i feel lost, lonely and confused.........

  • The tootsie pop question (you'll want to read).......?

i HAVE the answer to all the people that think they are being funny and creative. they actually made a machine that (perdue college made it) and measured the average human licks. put to the test they came up with an answer (saw it on the food network at the tootsie pop factory, they even showed the machine for the first time ever to the public).

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?

    i know, do you?

  • single serve 'pod' coffee systems?

does anyone own a single serve 'pod' coffee ststem? i have the senseo (was lucky and got the system, a bag of pods, and a storage container for free in a marketing promotions $70 value). the coffee isn't bad, it's just weak, even when you double up the pods. i was told that the pods for other systems work in the senseo (even thought they tell you not to, but that's because they want you to buy their product).

has anyone tried other pod brands? which brand and roast do you like? which are the strongest with the best flavor?

  • Is anyone else sick of.......?

the constant begging for coke codes, and.......

why can't anyone do their own damn homework? i'm not old, not even close, but when i was in school we had to actually open an encyclopedia or go to the library. nowadays kids are blessed with the internet, but that's not easy enough. they have to come to forums like yahoo answers and expect people to do it for them.

i don't get it. everyone wants everything handed to them. is the world really getting that lazy? does it drive you nuts too?

  • educational internet games for 3-4 year olds?

my daughter is three and a half and i let her play on the internet (supervised). she plays on nickjr., disney playhouse, and pbs kids. pbs kids seems to be the most educational (luckily it's her favorite). i'm looking for free online (or free downloadable) games that help with recognizing numbers and the alphabet. she is actually starting to spell, so spelling games would be good too. anyone know of anything like this for ages 2-5?

  • is this okay for my dd?

my dd is 3 and 1/2, and all she wants to watch is 'the wall'. i have educated her on all genres of music since she was 6 months old, but she is obsessed with the wall. i have never over-played it for her, but she is drawn to it. should i be concerned? she has a healthy balance of music, but she prefers the 'disturbed' and 'hoochie' music the most. thoughts, advice, ideas?
