Benefits Interview under caution OUTCOME?
There are a lot of questions on here asking about the proceedings of an interview under caution, and the possible outcomes, but nothing stating what the actual outcome turned out to be.
I can't imagine the government sending people to already overcrowded prisons and having to spend tens of thousands of pounds more, when they could just order a repayment with interest and get their money back.
I can understand the warnings.
There is nothing on here about either. If you have had an interview under caution with benefits, what was the outcome??

I have been interviewed under caution for claiming benefit when I shouldn't have been. I cried a lot in the interview, gave them a sob story & the outcome was I had to repay the money, didn't have to pay interest or go to prison. As I was genuinely claiming benefits by the time it was all sorted, the money was taken straight from my benefit each week.

It really depends on the seriousness of the situation - you're probably in a better position than most to determine what that is. At the moment, the chances are they'll order a repayment only. For more serious cases they will give a suspended sentance in a court and for the most serious cases they will use short jail terms. The government are bringing in legislation that means they will stop ALL your benefits for three years - consider yourself lucky that's not in yet.
