What is the difference between a Programmer and a Developer?

A programmer is nothing but a coder , He just codes accordingly to the specification or design . Whereas a developer developes the software/module from understanding the requirement, then design the solution,code it and then test the same.

A developer is broader. A programmer may develop his own programm, but he also just may write the code for a programm developped by somebody else. It also works the other way around. A programm developper may be the programmer for his own project, but he doesn't have to be, or he could have assistance.
Also a developer can be something else then a software-developer.
