performance/s10 question, 10 points to best answer!?

I have a 91 2.8L v6 TBI 5 spd manual s10 that i recently rebuilt the lower end engine in. I want some more power though, but i'm skeptical of products out there. I'm not your dumb teen who wants a race car but one who has some decent automotive knowledge, but is inquiring to other GM truck owners. My question is, will a high flow muffler (flowmaster) give me any gains that i will notice ( i don't want to cut down on my torque and lose acceleration). Q2- will a high flow cat. give me performance gains, Q3- Will a chip or module give me gains (its stock engine, sept the new lower end), i doubt this will. Q5- will a throttle body spacer work, i doubt it will. Q4- should i paint it gloss black, red, or white. Try to answer all the questions, and any recommendations (budget is important) for more power are welcome. no humor

Update:

i thought i said on a budget? i've considered the v8 swap but the 4.3L is the easiest to do it to or so i hear, and i'm not looking for a hot rod, just a cruiser with some more acceleration. If i had 1500-2000 i would swap out for the 350 or 305. Anything past the 350 such as the 383 or the 377 gets harder to do and alot more expensive. I just wanted feedback on the gains b/c most people have done these mods to similar vehicles.

I've had my 92 Sonoma 2.8 5 speed for years now. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love my truck. It gets decent gas mileage and is a fun truck to drive around. But the 2.8 is going to be slow regardless. Q1- A high flow muffler will be louder and may give you the feeling you're moving faster but in reality the gain would be so small it couldn't be measured. I bought my truck with straight pipes and HATED it. Q2- high flow cat or no cat falls under my last answer. I still have no cat and my truck is slow as hell. Q3- Computer chips may work for a newer vehicle to some degree. But on a twenty year old throttle body pickup with a dog engine....no gain. I promise. Do they even make them for our truck? Forget that idea. Q4- no. Q5- My Sonoma is flat black with Z28 rims and looks nasty. Email if you'd like to see pictures. Considering the fact you've rebuilt your engine just be content with what you have. Or save up for the swap by getting part by part. Rear end, trans, motor, s10 v8 swap kit,. A V8 swap will beat that crap out of almost anything original in our 20 year old trucks. I've consider it but it is a lot of work. I'd rather buy one already swapped and save money and hassle.
