Baby Daughter Name Help ?

I am thinking about naming my daughter Blessing. Everyone tells me how stupid the name is and how it is really social suicide. I absolutely love the name Blessing but I'm not so sure anymore. Please give me your honest opinion. Thank you.

Well, it is your call, I might opt for using it as a middle name or finding another name that means the same - Gwenyth for instance means blessed

I know a boy who is named Blessing, and people raise their eyebrows at that. Personally I wouldn't choose the name neither would I want it, because to me it sounds corny. However if is your daughter and you choose a name with love, just consider what your daughter might think when she grows up. You might like it now, but she has to live with it for the rest of her life. And can you imagine if she is going for a job interview and they have to call her Blessing? It shouldn't matter but it does to some. Maybe give Blessing as her middle name? Congratulations.

honestly, I dont think Blessing is really an appropriate name for a child

I can understand why you like it, but I truly think the child will suffer from lots of teasing and be made fun of for their entire life :(

You could totally use Blessing as a middle name!

That way the child can avoid all of the downsides of having it as a first name

    you could do something like;

Julia Blessing Faith ____ (If you like 2 middle names)

    or just Julia Blessing

any other first name that you like im sure would sound great with Blessing as a middle name, because it pretty much goes with anything

    :) Hope I helped!

I would keep the name Blessing for a private nickname and name her something else. I have to agree with your friends...social suicide..my teenaged daughters think it is an awful name too (thought I would ask them for a different age group opinion).

My best friend has a daughter named Blessing. I thought it was a little cheesy at first, but it has grown on me. I'm sure if you name your daughter this, people will get used to the name and it will grow on them too.:) Your baby-name it what you like.

It actually isn't the worst name I have ever heard....However she won't be a baby forever

It is super cute for a baby or toddler but not so much for a 30 year old.

    How about Eva Blessing ?

Or using Blessing as a nickname

But go with whatever you love.

I'm not a fan of Blessing as a name... maybe choose a name that has the meaning of blessing.

I think it is a beautiful name, but it is almost a guarantee that she will be picked on at school. If I were you, I would consider using it as a middle name instead. Kids can be cruel, and you dont want her to have a terrible time when she gets older. I also read an article that kids with unusual names are less likely to succeed.

i think it is a really unusual but i think it is perfect as every child is a blessing. My daughters name is Seren which is welsh for star so unusual names can be good.
