trouble with sexual immorality?
i have been struggling with pornography my whole life. i was saved when i was 16 and have tried stopping, on many occasions. i just cant seem to stop. i have prayed about it and tried and tried and i keep falling back into it. i have asked for forgivness and for God to help me and the same thing happens. i cant stop. it has gotten to the point where i dont even try anymore and i havent for a long time. now im reading stuff that apparently you arent really saved if you dont repent and stop sinning. well in that case i am not save, and im going to hell. i know its a sin, i have confessed. but i cant stop. what are your thoughts?

This is a prime example of the guilt trip that religion tries to lay on you. And you, my friend, have bought into the lies. There is no God, no Heaven, no Hell, no judgment, and no Judgment Day. Do not harm another person or animal, but if you like provocative pictures of adults in sexual situations... that is really not anyone else's business anyway.
I'm not saying to become a rapist, that would be doing harm to another. However, I will tell you this: When I tossed my religion out the door, I tossed a ton of guilt, shame, and fear that I didn't need. I lost that feeling of "sky daddy" looking over my shoulder. As far as I'm concerned, I lost nothing because in 60+ years, I never saw or heard from the sky-daddy. Not once.
Now I merely suggest that you ask the hard questions regarding proof. If you find any proof of God's existence that cannot be explained by science, let us know. But be warned - the idea of miracles are seductive. People WANT to see the supernatural. You know what? When you want to see something badly enough, you see it - whether it was really there or not.

Well, im an atheist but ill try to help. When jesus admitted that people would be tempted sexually, and that many would not be able to resist this temptation, he admonished his followers to get married if they could not refrain themselves. The point im making is that jesus cleary knows people are going to want to engage in sexual activity, and he did not say people were going to hell for it. Dude, if god is who he says he is he cant possibly get pissed off that you're jacking off to porn. Im sure he saw it coming. Just relax.

Hell is your grave, you will just stop existing. You need to remove everything that is tempting you. If its your computer, get rid of it. Ask Jehovah for help and he will help you. Take a look at this article on porn. Do you know porn is from Satan? He will use whatever he needs to to lure you away from God. http://www.watchtower.org/e/20030722/article_03.ht...

Jeez, people! I don't happen to be christian (I'm an agnostic atheist) but he believes what he believes and he's not trying to push it on anyone, why do you have to blatantly push your own doctrines of anti-faith on him?
ANYHOW, in response to your question, I'd say that quitting pornography is certainly a valiant effort in & of itself. Would it be wrong for me to say that the core issue is masturbation? (do not waste sperm, etc?)
Having recently read through the whole book of genesis (7 hours, ugh) I happen to vaguely remember the section of it that refers to spilling seed outside/wasting it... I think it was Onan who ejaculated outside of Tamir/Tamar...Tamir was his brother's widowed wife, and it was his "duty" to continue his brother's line by impregnating this woman, and no heirs created would be his own....rather, they would be his brother's. I think he even had his own wife and family by this point but I'm not sure on that. At the point of origin, this practice for a brother-in-law was rather accepted. Onan 'died for his wickedness' because of this...
In his case, he was having sex but purposely not producing children. I don't know your views on birth control, but I'd personally say that his situation and yours are distinctly different for one big reason: Onan deliberately chose to waste those sperm, having sex with his brother's widow numerous times with no intention to secure her a child.
You, on the other hand, have no intention or goal to produce offspring in any masturbation! The act of masturbation is thought to be shameful by many, but really? I think God would much prefer you to take out your sexual frustrations in this much less harmful method than to go around having premarital or extramarital sex just for the satisfaction of release.
If you're simply feeling shamed about the ammount of pornography you watch, I can understand. I watch way too much pornography, but I think it helps me relax. At a point in my life, I became really worried it was a real issue and did a bit of reasearch. Something I found that you might appreciate is http://www.no-porn.com/test.html
Please, check that link out. It's got a lot of information on the site besides the test I've provided you. Theres even a book that is free to download. They've got an internet-accountability program that might help you out.
Further, I hope you can stop thinking you'll go to hell. You obviously want to stop and have made numerous efforts. You're on the way, just don't give up if it's something that matters to you. Don't believe everything you read-- Other people have no right to tell you whether you'll go to hell or if you are a sinner. Trust in your own belief and understanding of God, and have faith in your own efforts. To err is human, but to forgive is divine. You've got to forgive yourself, and keep working towards becoming the sort of person you wish to be!
Hope this helps & good luck!

pornography is nowhere in the bible, therefore it's not a sin. i swear, you christians create more and more sins everyday, geez...
by the way, god doesn't exist.
