How long will the Alienware M11x stay relevant/powerful?
I am planning on buying an Alienware M11x (or its future equivalent) in the summer or early fall. It will probably have a Core i5 processor (a little over 2 Ghz when overclocked) with a single 1 gb graphics card and 4 gb of RAM.
How long will that be powerful compared to other laptops, or other 11 inch laptops?
How long will it be able to run the latest games with at least medium settings?
(Please ask any questions in your responses, I will add to info as people ask...)

My estimate is around 2-3 years. After that, some of the future games may not run greatly as you want unless you tune down the graphical settings. Also the M11x has a relatively slow CPU.

Gaming laptops can easily become outdated, as they are not designed to be as upgradeable as gaming desktops. I would give the current Alienware M11x model anywhere from six months to two years before it struggles to run games at medium settings. And given those circumstances, you can expect a third revision of Alienware's gaming ultraportable. I have provided you with some benchmarks as to how the Alienware M11x runs modern-day games. As of right now, it is one of the most powerful (if not the most powerful) 11" computers out on the consumer market.
