  • Why don't more people use Android?

I recently got a Motorola Photon 4G on Sprint. Before this, my main "smart-device" was my iPod Touch 4G, and I would frequently use my dad's iPhone 4 (i.e. on car rides, airplanes, etc.). After switching to the Android device, I started wondering why Android got so much hate. The Photon matches, if not bests, the iPhone in smoothness, responsiveness, and battery life. The Photon is faster, understandable considering it is a year newer, and the OS is far superior (to me, at least) because you can make it however you'd like. Live wallpapers, widgets, and sheer number of options you have for every little thing are all things that I sorely miss on my treasured iPod. Also, I can just take out the battery and pop in a new one if it runs out, and iTunes syncing is very easy.

Of course, it does have some flaws. It is confusing at first, but I'm not a tech wiz, and I figured most things out in just a few hours. The default YouTube app sucks, but I just replaced it with a better one. The screen isn't a "retina display" but its qHD, so its pretty close, and I can' tell the difference.

Why do people even treasure the iPhone/iPad so much? All my friends are getting iPhone 4s (weird considering the iPhone 5 is coming out in ~a month) and they didn't even consider getting Android devices. Why do you think this is?

  • Are these specs good for a gaming computer?

I have a Core i7 640 UM thats at 2.26 GHz (when overclocked, I always have it overclocked), a 1 GB nVidia 335m graphics card, 8 gigs of ram, and a 500 GB 7,200 RPM hard drive.

I want to know it can handle most modern games on high or highest setting with ease.

  • What are domains and ranges in math? (URGENT HELP NEEDED)?

I think the domain is all of the possible inputs for a function, and the range is all of the outputs, but I am not sure and I have a huge test tomorrow (3-12-11).

For example, for the function f(x)=a(x+1)+5, if a <_x <_a+4, all of the x values would be the domain and the results would be the range, right?

Please explain in as simple terms as possible. (P.S. "<_" is supposed to be equal to or greater than)

  • How long will the Alienware M11x stay relevant/powerful?

I am planning on buying an Alienware M11x (or its future equivalent) in the summer or early fall. It will probably have a Core i5 processor (a little over 2 Ghz when overclocked) with a single 1 gb graphics card and 4 gb of RAM.

How long will that be powerful compared to other laptops, or other 11 inch laptops?

How long will it be able to run the latest games with at least medium settings?

(Please ask any questions in your responses, I will add to info as people ask...)

  • Can anyone help me make a board game about A Tale Of Two Cities?

I have to make a board game related to A Tale of Two Cities. This board game must have 35 trivia cards (about the book) and 20 textual connections (such as Madame DeFarge caught you, go to La Force written on a square).

I was thinking about making a game similar to LIFE, where each person plays a random person making their way across France and England.

Any tips, suggestions, tips or advice would be appreciated.

  • Can someone please help me with writing a sonnet?

For my English class, we are studying Shakespeare, and we have to write a sonnet like Shakespeare.

    Here are the instructions

Directions: With a basic understanding of the structure of a Shakespearean sonnet, try your hand at writing your own. Your sonnet will need to follow the same format as a Shakespearean sonnet, but you will get to choose the topic.

Your poem does not have to be about love, death, or nature as most of Shakespeare’s poems were. However, you need to have a specific theme or topic and you will be graded on how well you express, explain, and describe that theme or topic. Spend some time thinking about what you want to write about before you start writing. Your poem can be funny or serious and, as always, you are expected to proofread and edit your work.

    Possible topics:

    Sports you play

    School

    Friendship

    Love

    Family

    Pets

    Food

    Nature

    Any of your interests

    Feelings/emotions

Your sonnet must have the following:

    1. Fourteen lines

    2. Three quatrains and one rhyming couplet

    3. An abab cdcd efef gg rhyme scheme

    4. 10 syllables per line in iambic pentameter

    5. A specific theme (your choice)

    6. An interesting title

Any help pertaining to how to start off or a couple examples will help greatly(don't worry, I won't plagiarize)

Again, any information will be greatly appreciated. BTW, when explaining things, please keep in mind that i am only a 9th grader, and please clarify things I may not know.

  • What do you do when a there is a superscript number in front of a square root symbol?

It is hard to explain, it looks like this

    .........________

    .....x./....xxx

    ......\/.....xxx

The solitary x represents the superscript number I am talking about, the six x's represent the normal sized number, and the combination of slashes and underscores represents a sq. root symbol. The dots are spaces because YA deletes un-needed spaces.

  • What is the cryptology johns hopkins cty (center for talented youth) summer program like?

I am going there for there this summer because my mom said I could stay home and play xbox all day all summer. So I took the SAT and got a good enough score, and chose cryptology. I didn't really take it very seriously until a couple days ago when I found out it costs almost 4000 dollars for 21 days!!!

Since then I have decided to take things very seriously and work my butt off preparing for the cryptology lessons. I looked up some cryptology info and found that it was very complex and you need to know much about computer.

So can some people help me by telling me what it is going to be like and recommend some books about computing and basic cryptology?

P.S. I'm only 13, I have a high reading level, but could you list books that would be good for my age...Any help would be gerat though!

  • Do you think Coon-Bear-Pig is a good gamer tag?

I have a childish gamertag, and I am a really big fan of south park, so would that be a good gamertag. Other suggestions are welcome (funny ones would be best).

P.S. I don't want anyone telling me it is already taken, I will put x's in the place of dashes or something like that.

  • Is 1780 a good SAT score for a 13 year old 8th grader.?

    I got:

    650 in math

    570 in reading

    560 in writing

I only had three weeks to study for reading and writing, but I did math practice for about 6 weeks. I thought it was good, but as soon as I showed it to my mom she seemed a little disappointed.

  • Whats a clever slogan for a roller coaster that we made out of foam?

My lab partner and I built a roller coaster out of foam pool noodles cut in half (lengthwise). We named it the reaper, and it is the fastest in the class (the marble goes through all 8 meters of track in 2.34 seconds, note that some of the coaster is missing in the picture below). So what would be a good slogan or motto for it

Below is a link for the picture of most of our coaster and my lab partner. I took the picture so I was not in the photo.

  • How to solve the following math problem?

Old silver contains 90% silver. Silver solder contains 63% silver. If you wanted to make 200 kilograms of an alloy containing 82% silver, how many kilograms of old coins and how many kilograms of silver solder could you melt together to do this?

My teacher explained this in school today, and I was doing S.S. homework because I usually already know the things she teaches.

However, she told us to use a chart like the one below to do it

    % Amount of Silver

    Metal

    ___________________________

    l l l l

    Coin l l l l

    l_______l___________l________l

    l l l l

    Solder l l l l

    l_______l___________l________l

    l l l l

    Total l l l l

    l_______l___________l________l

P.S. I think she called it combination, I am in 8th grade advances pre-algebra/Algebra 1

  • Do you think this is extreme studying?

My dad wants me to do 6 practice SAT sessions (the three math and reading sessions in each test) a day for my upcoming SAT test on the 23rd of January. Each session takes about 25 minutes, so it takes about three hours a day, on top of my schoolwork (advance classes). I think this is unfair, seeing how John Hopkins doesn't even look at my reading score if I score above a 540 on my Math, an I usualy score about 650-700 in my practice tests.

    What do you think?

BTW, I;m trying to get into the John Hopkins Math and Science summer program, and I'm 13.

  • Immigrants taking our work?

I mean illegal immigrants, they take the jobs that the american people need, and do them for extremely low wares. Yeah, I know "without them, everything would be expensive because then farmers would have to pay workers more". While this may be true, I'm pretty sure (legal) american residents (not citizens) would do job for a low pay.

Also, my dad works at General Electric, as a Computer Intelligence Manager, and he has to talk to people from India(where I come from), Mexico, China, Japan etc. at odd hours. I think this is extremely unfair and unethical. According to my dad, companies do this to save money, WTF. They're giving jobs to people from other countries instead of American residents, THATS BS. What do You think.
