What do you think of the name Aspen?

For a girl. I would probably use Spen as a nickname.

The name Aspen comes from a type of birch tree found in the foothills of The Rocky Mountains. It has delicate, white, papery bark and leaves that turn vivid shades of orange in the fall. The Aspen is not a thick, heavy tree, but it can bend a bit and so survives winter storms. Aspen is usually used as a girl's name. It stands for willowy grace and beauty. It has been popular since the nineteen seventies, partly due to the songs of John Denver and also because of the publicity given to the town of Aspen, Colorado, a high-end alpine resort popular with celebrities in many different fields. It is quite suitable as a modern, female, North American name, especially apt for someone with reddish, or reddish-blonde hair resembling Aspen leaves in autumn.....http://vampirewonderland.blogspot.com/

I think it is a good strong gender neutral name, but at the same time I think I like it for a boy a bit better. When I think of Aspen for a boys name I think of something strong and mighty like a tree. It's a good sturdy name that if I met a young man with that name that he'd be someone I can lean on and trust it. For a girl I think of something beautiful and carefree like branches flowing in the wind. Middle names for a boy: Aspen Dominic, Aspen Xavier, Aspen Samuel, Aspen Joseph, Aspen Reese, Aspen Keanu, Aspen Warren. Middle names for a girl: Aspen Ariana, Aspen Janessa, Aspen Larissa, Aspen Skye, Aspen Evelyn, Aspen Sophia, Aspen Joslyn. I really hope this helped you out.

Aspen is fine for a tree or a town, but not as appealing as a girl's name. And Spen is dreadful.

It's all right. However calling a darling baby girl "Spen" is horrible I hope you don't give her that nickname!

I love it, but I wouldn't use it because of the potential derogatory nicknames. (Think about it... there are a few of them.) I still think it would make a beautiful girl's name!
