Are the NHL schedule makers touched in the head?

Dallas stars played Vancouver tonight in Dallas, on SUPERBOWL week! This year's Superbowl is IN Dallas. 1000 people showed up for game.

What are NHL schedule makers thinking!?!?!? Or are they totally not thinking?

Attendance was bad because of the snowstorm that pounded the area...the Super Bowl has nothing to do with it. Dallas will be out of town for the weekend when the major flux of visitors come into town for the game. The vast majority of Dallas Stars fans who attend games live in the DFW MetroPlex area- unfortunately they had a horrible snowstorm hit and Dallas doesn't exactly have the snow removal apparatus that cities like Chicago, Buffalo, etc. have.

The Super Bowl is being played in Arlington (where all of yesterday's Media day events took place), which is approx 25mi from downtown Dallas (where Dallas' home arena is located).

To answer your question, the league is fully aware of dates to avoid. The date was cleared by the Dallas Stars, the NHL, etc.

I think it had more so to do with the weather, rather than the fact that the Superbowl is 5 days away...

I saw that on sportscentre, that was absolutely pathetic. The sportscentre guys were making jokes about how there were 50 people at the game, then in the 2nd period highlights the guy said "Oh look, they're up to 75 now!". But that was disgraceful. The stars should be relocated, just like half the other teams in this league. Clearly people in the south don't give a $hit about hockey.

By the way, the superbowl really shouldn't affect the attendance at all unless the stars play on the same day as it, which they don't.

I was at the game, the arena was close to 3/4 full (announced attendance was 12,884) and considering that the city was pelted with freezing rain and sleet today forcing the airport to be closed for 4 hours.....the attendance was damn good!

well the superbowl is still a few days away, so i'm not sure how that affects the turnout of this game, but honestly, i don't think turnout was that low.

Sportscenter just likes to make fun of hockey because they have no lives. Attendance was good considering the weather.

Even though the ice level sections were kinda bad, it wasn't too bad considering the weather.
