Of course there were different circumstances around the incident (and Bradley was injured after the play whereas Malkin was relatively fine) but the action was the same: Player A sucker punched player B. Is the NHL saying it's ok to sucker punch another player, as long as that player doesn't suffer any significant injury?

Struggling pretty bad lately. Talks of Crosby out for the rest of the season, Letang isn't back practicing yet, Staal is out 4-6 weeks, Neal is out for "weeks" with a broken foot. They've lost 210 man games already this season. I don't think Malkin and Fleury will be able to win many games for them.

What can they do to "right the ship"? Do you think they'll make the playoffs this year?

Is this a suspend-able offence? Why no hearing? I understand that it's Matt Cooke and it's karma and whatever, but if the league really wants to eliminate all head shots they need to have some sort of consistency. I personally wouldn't suspend Carlson on this play, but at least have a hearing with him to send a message.
