Can I cross the US/Canadian border with a DUI?
I am a Canadian citizen and I was convicted of a DUI charge last December. I'm wondering if I'm allowed to cross the border for a day or two?

Well if your driving then no way in heck can you cross the border because you CANNOT legally drive for at least one year (thats the mandtory minimum sentence judges impose), so if your caught driving at the border, not only will you be denied access but the police will be brought in and you'll be arrested/charged with driving with a suspended license (this carries a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison).
If your flying or a passenger in a car and attempting to cross the borders, its iffy because some states won't allow people who have been convicted of DUI's into the country. Your best bet is to call the US border patrol (look the number up online), tell them your situation and ask if your permitted/not permitted to enter the country. Your best to do this because lets say you arrogantly go down there with a friend (driving all those hours) and the border patrol turns you down, your friend will then have to drive all that way back home again just because you cant enter. Do the smart thing and do some reserach into this before going on your trip.

I have had dual for decades now, I have never had them ask me those sorts of questions. Although I've never had a prior anything in the category of a DUI! So I'd either call the guards or find out if they can appeal it.
