Tips for a natural birth?
I am 40 weeks along with my second baby.
I had an epidural with my first and I'm really hoping to go through this labour without the use of any drugs.
Anyone who has had a natural labour, do you have any tips, pointers or advice that can help me get through labour and delivery?

For me, the key was relaxation and keeping in mind that it would end (eventually). And my husband was absolutely essential to me going naturally. So having someone who is supportive there with you to talk you through each contraction is a huge help. Also, it's good to be able to move around to find the position that's best for you, so it would be a good idea to ask if the baby could be monitored intermittently. Some hospitals even have mobile monitors that don't need to be hooked up to any machines. (If you're stuck lying down in the bed, it's a lot harder to go naturally.)
Try thinking through all of the positions that you might want to try. Some people like to stand and sway. Some like to get on all fours. Some like to walk around or even get in the shower. For me, the most comfortable position was being on the birthing ball in a sort of squat, and with each contraction, I would lean forward on my husband and put my head in his lap.
Another important thing is breathing. It's good to take deep, slow breaths through each contraction and try to relax every muscle in your body. It takes a lot of focus, but this is a great way to get your mind on something other than the pain. And just try to remind yourself (or have your support person remind you) that most contractions are only a minute long, so you can do anything for a minute.
Finally, just be as prepared as possible. Talk to the person who's going to be in there with you about what you will need to hear when you're feeling like you want that epidural. Have them remind you of your reasons for wanting to go without the epidural. (If you don't have any clear ones, now would be a good idea to research those!)
I delivered my first baby naturally about 3 months ago. My labor lasted for around 22 hours, and I pushed for two of those. It was definitely the most difficult physical thing I've ever done, but it was also the most amazing experience in the world. It's so awesome to be completely in tune with everything that's going on with your body, and there's so much evidence that babies born without epidural are generally more alert. My little girl came out so alert and ready to nurse. It was such a special time. And one good thing for you is that since it's your second, it's very likely that your labor will be shorter, which is a big plus!
Anyhow, I hope that's helpful. Congrats and good luck on going naturally! You can do it--your body was made to! :)

Walking around. Make sure you have the support around you that you want. Try squatting, getting on all 4's, an exercise ball, a bath while at the hospital, laying on your side and really really try to breathe. Of course with all the things I mentioned ask your doctor before doing them. Congrats and good luck!

I had natural labor and delivery with both of my children (however, not my choice, went too fast to receive any thing). Once you're in active labor I would suggest just focusing on your body, it knows what you need to do. Focus on deep relaxing breaths, and the miracle that is occurring.

maximum women folk human beings say they are going to attempt for a organic delivery, yet while the soreness starts off (and definite it fairly is real what you have heard, it fairly is the worst ever) they freak out and ask for meds. the girls people who commonly shop on with by using with the organic delivery are people who did different making waiting, like taking training on it. each and every chum aside from one, has ended up getting soreness meds and asserting they could not have faith how undesirable the soreness became into and that they might never do it clearly. the only that did it took training on the Bradley approach. additionally, so a ways as getting shoved on your backbone, the epidural, it is in basic terms one approach of soreness administration. you will get Stadol by using your IV to ease the soreness with the contractions and a nerve block to numb you up somewhat on your delivery canal which took the area off the soreness. it is what I did with my first as a results of fact i didn't wish the epidural. With my 2d I did it clearly, as a results of fact I had no time for something. regardless of you elect for to do, do somewhat analyze first so which you're actually not unprepared.
