I have a school project due in just a few weeks, and was wondering if you could help?

I am looking for a japanese food that is relatively easy to make, and if possible, doesn't include seafood! I would need to bring this in to class, and I don't have history until 4th period, so it needs to be able to sit out for a while.

There are a couple of easy dishes you could make for school.

    Onigiri (rice ball) http://japan-australia.blogspot.com/2010/12/easy-j...

    Rice balls:

Use short-grain Japanese style white rice (Nishiki or Kokoho Rose brands work well)

Cook 2 1/2 cups rice (to make 7 cups cooked rice) according to instructions, and while it is still hot mix in a bowl with a pich of salt and 2 T sesame seeds. Take a small scoop of the rice into your hands and gently form a ball. In the center of the ball, place a small amount of cooked salmon fish flakes or strips of smoked salmon, then pack the ball as if you were making a triangular-shaped snowball. Wrap a piece of seaweed (nori) the outside. These can sit at room temperature.

Miso soup. If you can bring an electric hotpot and plug it in so that you will have hot water, then all you need is some miso paste and some bowls and spoons. Add hot water to miso paste and stir. The amount of miso paste depends on how strong you want your soup but about a teaspoon for a very small bowl is usually good. instant miso packets are also available. You can also add bit of tofu, seaweed and slices of green onion.

Do you need to actually make the recipes or just bring osme Japanese food to class? If you can bring store-bought food, Japanese rice crackers (pronounced "o-sem-bee") are sweet and delicious
