In Islam, does the Koran say I am a Muslim?

Question

A friend of mine says that even tho' my mother is "white", that if my dad was Muslim, even tho' i never knew him, and grew up Christian,  the Koran says I am Muslim.  NO trolls please.  Is this accurate, and what is the Koran scripture to support this.  I cannot find it in the Koran.

You definitely ARE a Muslim by birth. You're just a really really bad Muslim that has never done anything Islamic.

We believe that every child is born pure, innocent and submissive to god (Muslim). But you are not a child and therefore make your own decisions so you can choose what you believe.You are no longer Muslim if you do not believe in God and his Prophets. You have a right to believe whatever you want so don't let your friend confuse you. Islam can not be forced on you, we can only show you what it is about. 

You know there is not much difference between Christians and Muslims... we both love Jesus and Mary very very much.

I'm muslim and I know, the Koran doesn't say ANYTHING about that, Islam is a believe, if you believe in it and say its believe words like shahada you become muslim.

The first poster is right, religion is not inherited.

What Islam does say is that ALL children are born on fitrah, i.e all children are born on their essential nature and are therefore Muslim.It is only when they reach the age of understanding approximately 7,that they take on the religion that their parents have raised them in.

You are a Muslim if you have taken Shahada before other Muslims.

Yes, unforuntely, the Muslims say you're Muslim.

That's obviously not right, because you're Christian. Besides, please don't become Muslim. It's a waste of your life.
