Xbox 360 open tray error? Laser fix has failed.?
A few weeks ago, my xbox 360 started to get an open tray error. After doing some research, I took apart the xbox, reset the laser to its original position, and for a while, the xbox worked fine. But a few days later the error came back, so I sent the xbox to a professional repairman, who replaced the laser and worked on putting lube on the laser track. But even with that, it still gives the open tray error. Is there something else that might be wrong? Help would be appreciated.

The Xbox Live update on November 1, 2010 caused a large number of Xbox 360 to stop reading official discs and only give an "open tray" message on even non-modded consoles. Microsoft still hasn't fixed the issue. There is also a new January 19, 2011 update that is now also giving people similar problems.
There is a very large topic on the November 2010 update problems at the official forums. But it was recently closed by the moderators...

the project is that the laser that the Xbox makes use of to study the disks is grimy and is inflicting the Xbox to think of that there is not any longer a disk interior the tray whilst rather there is. As you mentioned it generally fixes itself after a at the same time as. there is not any thank you to repair this with out going into your Xbox that i understand of, relatively because of the fact the project lies in the Xbox.

It means that either your repairman really doesn't know what he is doing, or when it was taken apart something got damaged... or something else was wrong to begin with. Maybe asking the repairman if he can take a quick look and check?
