  • I was pulled over while driving my GF's car, which had an expired registration. How does that affect me?

    Background:

I am a FL resident, she is a ME resident. We were initially pulled over for headlights being out, but upon running her tag, the officer noted that the vehicle had not been registered for 10 months. The ticket was give in my name, since I was the driver.

    So my questions would be:

-If this will affect my driving record, how will it? I'm assuming points will be added, and that would in turn drive up my insurance?

-If that is the case, is there any way to rectify the situation? I am not trying to pin blame on my girlfriend, just simply trying to see if my record can be cleared of a misdeed that I am not directly at fault for.

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Why are many tropical storms trending north once they reach the Lesser Antilles?

I've noticed that several tropical cyclones this year have taken the East Coast route rather than what has been typical in past years, which is entering the Gulf of Mexico. Is there a reason for this or is it just coincidence?

  • Why isn't my wireless router connecting to the internet?

I have a Netgear WPN824N wireless router that I've had for a year now. I lent it to my friend, who was staying in my old apartment, over the summer. He informed me that he had to reset the router and created a new network with a new password.

Now, I took the router back and am trying to get it to connect to the internet. The computer recognizes the router and shows 5 bars out of 5 for connectivity. However, there is the yellow caution triangle and the status box shows "No Internet Connection".

I have successfully entered the new network name/password and done about all I can think of, including restarting the computer. Any suggestions? You can take me back a few steps if needed.

    Thanks.

  • Horrible car luck..what should I do next?

    Here are the facts:

-I bought a 2003 Honda Civic hybrid used with 102,000 miles in October of 2010.

-In late June of this year, the car overheated. I had to replace the radiator and while repairing that, the mechanic discovered internal transmission failure.

-Two days later, for $3,500 at the Honda dealer, I got a new transmission.

-That was ten days ago. Now, the car was acting weird again on Wednesday so I had it towed to the dealer. They told me:

    1. The head gasket had blown

    2. As a result, water had entered the engine

    3. The engine needs to be replaced.

At this point, I'm not even sure if it's worth it to repair the engine. I've considered trading in the car as is and seeing if the dealer will cut me any slack because they essentially sold me a lemon.

But moreover, has anyone ever heard of a transmission and an engine failing within 10 days of each other? I find it extremely hard to believe that Honda could not tell that there was a looming disaster with the gasket/engine when fixing the transmission.

    Thanks.

  • Excel "IF" Function Question?

Here's what I'm trying to do:

I'm logging a pitcher's pitches at a baseball game. I have the count and pitch type to record, but I'm trying to put together a "summary" chart that shows how much a certain pitch is thrown on a certain count.

For example: I want to record how many fastballs/changeups/curveballs he throws on a 0-0/1-0/3-2 count.

Right now, I have a column for count starting with Column C row 3. The column next to it is pitch type, Column D row 3.

    I've entered the following function:

    =IF(C3:C150="0_0",COUNTIF(D3:D180,"FB"))

Where the first part determines the count, and the second part determines the pitch type.

The problem is that the range portion (C3:C150) is not working properly. If I enter a 0-0 count, the value is not returned. I think it has something to do with using the range of cells in an if function. Again, what I'm trying to do is look at each count, and then record what pitch was thrown in that situation throughout the game. How can I resolve this so that it will work as I want it to? Thanks.

  • What can I do about my car's transmission?

Yesterday coming to work, my car started acting up. It is a 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid and what happened was 1) The "drive" indicator on my dashboard was blinking, 2) the engine light was on, 3) The car began shaking and sounded like something was rattling under the hood, 4) When stopped, the car would not accelerate. I had to turn off the car, turn it back on, and made it a few more blocks to my work.

Apparently, this damaged the car a lot more than if I had just pulled it over at the first sign of trouble. I had it towed to a mechanic, and here's what they said:

    1) The cooling sensors malfunctioned due to overheating

    2) The heat (over 400 degrees) also caused some damage internally to my transmission.

As a result, they said that the likely scenario is for the transmission to be replaced. However, I'm kind of skeptical. I don't know much about the cars, but this seems like more of a radiator/engine problem than anything.

    Any help is appreciated, thanks.

  • What should I do about the growth on my toe?

Several months ago, I noticed a small growth on my right index toe. I ignored it, mainly because it wasn't causing me any pain. Now, it seems to have grown and whenever it hits something, it hurts. I'd say it's a wart, but I haven't seen anything online that would indicate that's what it is.

It is flesh-colored, about 1 cm in diameter, and 1 cm high. It seems to have split into two, with both sides growing up. There does appear to be dead skin at the end.

What is it, and what should I do about it? Thanks.

  • Xbox 360 open tray error? Laser fix has failed.?

A few weeks ago, my xbox 360 started to get an open tray error. After doing some research, I took apart the xbox, reset the laser to its original position, and for a while, the xbox worked fine. But a few days later the error came back, so I sent the xbox to a professional repairman, who replaced the laser and worked on putting lube on the laser track. But even with that, it still gives the open tray error. Is there something else that might be wrong? Help would be appreciated.
