Fiat Punto key - info required- is there a transponder in it ?

One of the keys for my daughters Fiat Punto, 2000 model, is bent and has a fracture line in it so we can't use it. Do these keys have a transponder in them or can I just get another one cut (the remote locking device is completely separate from the key).

Yes it's got a transponder, you can get a new key made up at a Fiat dealer so long as you have the red master key.

Yes there is a transponder in the key.

Why not get a new key cut and keep the top of the old key (where the transponder is) on the same key ring.

Try these guys. They can cut keys to your car from either a photo of the key blade or the manufacturers code. Cost me £20 for an astra key.
