Science project ideas involving microscopy and volvox cells?
I'm trying to come up with a good basis for a science research project for a 12th grader in AP Biology. Topics of interest are microscopy and volvox cells. Length of time allotted for experimentation is 2 months. If anyone has any good ideas of something that could be done with these, they would be greatly appreciated! Any other project ideas just in general would be helpful too!

For a 12th grade AP biology project, there are many easy things you can do with Volvox and the like. You can analyze:
*Volvox group distribution in the water
*effects of chemicals on Volvox survivability
*effects of Volvox in salt/fresh water
*effects of Volvox in light
All of these can be done in even less than 2 months! And all of them are pretty cheap to do with standard, store-bought equipment.

i understand that's been suggested, the mouse maze. yet heres a twist. Create about 4 complicated mazes for the mouse to run with the aid of, and characteristic one maze have peanut butter, and attempt how lengthy it takes for the mouse to get to it. Then attempt it with the 2d/third/notwithstanding many mice you've. Take the 2d maze, and placed cheese, and repeat the technique of seeing how lengthy it takes each and each and every rat (in my view) to get to the cheese. imagine of two different meals for the in basic terms suitable 2 mazes, probably a vegetable and a fruit? Or meat. it truly is to attempt which food a rat might want to locate first with their nostril, and which they prefer. (a extra effective attempt for which they could favor, is to make a maze with 4 endings, and characteristic the mouse locate the ending of its selection. you may could do different runs with different rats for proved advice.
