  • Renters Insurance for broken fridge?

Recently, my apartment's refrigerator and freezer kept on randomly not cooling the inside. I lost pretty much all the foods that were in there. My apartment came furnished, with the refrigerator as part of it. If I have the Amica Renters Insurance, would they cover the cost of my lost food?

  • Re-cooking paprikash dumplings?

I made chicken paprikash and I still have the dumplings separate from the sauce and chicken, but I found that the dumplings are still undercooked on the inside. They are still a bit dense and doughy even though I boiled them til they floated to the top of the pot. Is there a way I might be able to still salvage them?

  • Not sure about med school anymore?

So, I'm a rising junior at an Ivy League university. I'm a Biology and Spanish major and was originally pre-med. But, my grades in my biology classes have been consistently not too good. I've gotten 5 C's so far and actually just got a D+. With my GPA, I don't think even I would let myself into med school even though I've done lots of research and internships already. So I've been trying to accept the fact that med school may not be my best bet.

I always thought I wanted to become a cardiac pathologist and work with autopsy cases because I spent 3 summers doing research in pathology departments. I also really enjoyed analyzing tissue under a microscope and coming up with a diagnosis.

Now in college, I ended up in a plant and insect interaction lab, which I still really enjoy doing research on, but it's not the medical-related research I thought I'd be doing. So I enjoy ecology research and field work too.

I sometimes wish I could just go to a poor Spanish-speaking country with my undergraduate knowledge and be like a doctor for people, without actually having the degree, but still have more knowledge about care than most people there would have. I really don't want to be a nurse though.

I thought about maybe going to grad school. Possibly for a PhD, but I have no idea what I'd actually want to get a PhD in then. And I've heard if you don't like research more than eating or sleeping, that a PhD program might not be for you, since they tend to be pretty devastating for wishy-washy people. Also, I'm not really feeling like too much more schooling after undergrad.

I guess my question really is - if I can't be an actual doctor, what's my next best option? Or what sounds like something I'd be well-suited for an would enjoy doing based on the given information?

  • Buying Chocolarti Guatemalan chocolate in US?

Does anyone know if I could get Chocolarti chocolate in the US or shipped to me? I had it when I traveled to Guatemala and thought it was amazing, but have been unsuccessful in locating some I could purchase from back in the US.

  • Valid OtterBox warranty claim?

I've had this OtterBox case for my iPhone for a little over a month and it's the dual-case one where there's the silicone inner case and hard plastic outer case. I was trying to take the case off and the top part of the hard plastic case just cracked and snapped right off. Would this be a valid claim on their warranty policy?

  • Ways to seal off slits in a chinchilla ball half-way?

So I have what's basically an over-sized hamster ball for my chinchilla. He loves to run and roll around in it and it allows him to get good exercise while still being protected in my non-chinchilla-friendly dorm room. The only problem is that the slits in the sides of it are just a little too wide. Chinchillas tend to poop a lot, and when he's rolling around, the poop is small enough to just fit through the slits and then I have poop all over my room! I was looking for a way to seal off like maybe half of the slit so that this won't happen. I don't want it to impede the rolling of the ball or be harmful to my chinchilla inside. I was thinking of possibly duct tape or super glue, but then both of those seemed like not very good ideas to me. Any crafty thoughts or other ideas on this issue would be greatly appreciated though!

  • Should I get an iPhone 4S or an iPhone 5?

I'm finally getting an iPhone, so I've never owned one before and I can't decide which one to get. I can get a 16 GB iPhone 4S for $100 or a 16 GB iPhone 5 for $200. I don't get a new phone very often, as I've had my previous cell phone for 6 years. I don't know if it's worth paying the extra money for the newest model and latest features or if the 4S is the better value. Opinions would be much appreciated!

  • Water fountain in eye of hurricane?

When the atmospheric pressure is 1 atm, a water fountain ejects a stream of water that rises to a height of 5m. There is a 1-cm-radius pipe that leads from a pressurized tank to the opening that ejects the water. What would happen if the fountain were operating when the eye of a hurricane passes through? Assume that the atmospheric pressure in the eye is 0.877 atm and the tank's pressure remains the same.

Please describe how you came to your conclusion.

  • I'm looking for a dubstep / techno song...?

So I heard this song, but I don't know who sings it or what it's called. It reminds me a lot of the song Oxygen, but the singer is this higher-pitched girl who kind of sounds like La Roux. And in between the singing is the classic dubstep WUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUB. It's a really chill song and I just want to find it. If anyone has any thoughts of what song this might be, let me know! Thanks!

  • Science project ideas involving microscopy and volvox cells?

I'm trying to come up with a good basis for a science research project for a 12th grader in AP Biology. Topics of interest are microscopy and volvox cells. Length of time allotted for experimentation is 2 months. If anyone has any good ideas of something that could be done with these, they would be greatly appreciated! Any other project ideas just in general would be helpful too!

  • Which biology sub-specialty should I choose to major in?

I want to be a pathologist and major in biology in college, but this one college is making me choose a sub-specialty of biology to major in. I'm stuck between either "Cell and Developmental Biology" or "Microbiology." Which would be better in the long run for being a pathologist?

  • Creative ideas for a hanging mobile?

So I have to build a hanging mobile for my physics class and it has to be really creative. We saw this one in class that was like a hanging chess board with the little pieces and everything and it was really cool. I want something cool and artistic like that, but I can't think of anything. I don't want just random shapes like Calder's mobiles, but like a theme or object mobile. I was thinking of ways to spice up an origami crane mobile because I just don't want to use a whole bunch of the same cranes. I like origami and microbiology stuff though. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

  • Factor a^2-c^2+b^2+2ab?

Factor completely. Your answer must be expressed as a product of two polynomials.

I would greatly appreciate if you show how you get your answer.

I don't know if this helps, but I've noticed that this equation can be made into the law of cosines...
