this depends on what type of mouse it is...
if it is a regular ball type mouse, then take the ball out and carefully clean the rollers on the inside of the hole.
if it is an optical mouse then you need to make sure you use the right type of mouse mat. they work by sending little pictures of what it is resting on to a sensor that detects the slightest movement in the pattern. If you have a relatively smooth and shiny mouse mat it might not be able to recognise a pattern and starts to jump.
