This helps if you know where each of the cavities are. The Ventral body cavity is the front body cavity which consists of both the thoracic and abdominal-pelvic cavities. The thoracic cavity is basically your chest (follow your rib cage up--everything behind that) and the abdominal-pelvic cavity is everything below your rib line.

Thoracic includes the heart and lungs

Abdominal-pelvic includes the stomach, gallbladder, liver, spleen, pancreas, large and small intestines, bladder, kidneys, colon, uterus, etc..

The ventral body cavity is all inclusive.

I'm not sure that an ENTIRE system is located only in one of the cavities. For instance, your heart is in your thoracic cavity, but veins and arteries are both also part of the circulatory system and they are throughout your entire body. Your digestive system is primarily in your abdominal-pelvic region, but your esophagus is in your thoracic cavity and you begin digestion in the mouth via amylase.
