When did your child give up naps?

My 2 year old daughter (27 months) has refused to take a nap for the past two days. It seems a little premature to give up naps already. We switched her to a toddler bed over a month ago & she was doing fine for her naps and at nighttime. Now she gets up & plays while she is supposed to be napping. She still sleeps fine at night though. What age did your child give up their daytime nap?

I think you should hide her toys in her room, or put her a different room when she's supposed to be napping.

Hi. Our daughter stopped napping in the day at 2 years. She used to have a nap in the morning up until she was about 15 months then another in the afternoon until she was 2 years. She started nursery after she was 2 and even this didn't tire her enough to want a nap in the afternoon. To start with she would get grouchy around 5pm but nothing too bad.

If your daughter is tired she will sleep - it seems like she doesn't feel like she needs a nap in the afternoon now. We tried to make ours go to sleep in the afternoon but she grizzled for ages so we gave up in the end!

    Good luck!

My daughter stopped taking naps between 2 and 3. I was glad though cause now I get her into bed earlier so I can have my own time.

My 14 month old naturally stopped napping during day time at around 11 and a half months. I couldn't force her to nap, but instead encouraged quiet time to chill out. She is a fantastic sleeper now, goes to bed at 6.30pm and usually sleeps through until 9.30 - 10am!! she's never cranky and tired! I believe in letting them figure out the whole nap thing for themselves. Once they've figured it out, turn it into a routine - therefore you both win! goodluck x

They haven't yet. My oldest is turning 4 next month and still naps most days - not all. My 19 month old naps between 1.5 and 3 hours every day.
