i would like to lose 70 lbs..please read?

so i had a baby almost three months ago. i have been doing p90x and lost about 7.5 lbs my first month. i would like to aim to lose at least 7-10 per month. i eat a clean/anabolic diet. only one carb a day and hight protein content throughout and healthy fats. loads of veggies and only 2 servings of fruit a day since its higher in sugar. i've also been getting on my elliptical for an extra 20-30 minutes a day on top of my p90x days. i just read about HIIT training and would like to incoprporate this into my workouts too. i would like to know how often should i do the HIIT training a week? i work shift work so i was thinking on days i gotta be at work early i can wake up do the p90x then do the 20 minute HIIT when i get home. if i do the HIIT and p90x will i hit the higher end of my goal of 10 lbs per month sooner then later? oh i am a black female am about 5'9" and now weigh 242. my goal is around 170. with my first son i gained 80 lbs and lost in about a year with weight watchers. i hate their new program so im not joining again. any insight or advice is much appreciated. is it reasonable to think if i eat and workout like this i can reach this goal by August? i need a reality check, thanx

Their new program is actually designed to help you eat more of the kinds of food that don't add any fat to your body. You can pretty much eat vegetables in unlimited amounts - as it is very healthy for you - so it's good that you're already eating a lot. Too much high protein isn't going to help you become healthier - as saturated fats (red meats and full-fat dairy) are shown to increase health risks. So if you enjoy eating a lot of meat try to eat only the white meats like chicken or fish. Vegetarian alternatives are also worth checking out - because they are usually lower in fat content - meaning you can eat a bigger portion and still get the same weight loss results.

NEVER fry your food, only boil, bake, steam, or grill it. Half your plate should be filled with fresh or steamed veggies, and a quarter should have some kind of carbs - like brown rice, brown pasta, or small new potatoes. Try to enjoy your foods in their natural state as much as possible - don't add cheesy sauces or anything like that. But it's okay to sprinkle a few herbs here and there to make things tastier.

Always start the day with a healthy breakfast. Fresh fruit and yogurt, or maybe a bowl of porridge (made with skimmed milk or water), and add some fruit or raisins on top for natural sweetness. Avoid sprinkling sugar on your food or in your drinks - as it's completely unnecessary to the human diet. So empty all the sweets, cookies, chocolate, biscuits, and other junk food from your cupboards - you need to remove all naughty temptations from your sight.

Make sure you're drinking your 6 to 8 glasses of water each day - because the body often confuses thirst for hunger - so always try drinking it before you try eating anything. What you eat will always have more of an impact on your weight than the amount of exercise you do. So start keeping a food diary and write down every morsel that passes your lips on a daily basis. It's so easy to nibble on small things throughout the day and assume the calories won't count. It's probably the biggest reason most diets fail. So you need to be completely honest with yourself.

Healthy snacks for those in between moments include a delicious piece of fresh fruit, or a small handful of nuts - the non salty kind (an excellent source of protein). If you can split your three large meals a day into six small ones you will probably feel less hungry during the day. Never starve yourself. Good luck! :-)

Hi yeah i need to loose that as well, wow you are busy, I my self am going leave these supercharged workouts until i am considerably closer to my goal weight. just out of fear of bulking up. What you are doing sounds fine. What you are eating sounds good and your two regimes seem fine but i think adding the HIIT is like full on training which to means having eating appropriately to sustain the workouts thus not trimming down. save the hard core stuff to tone and sculpt when your happy with your weight. Good luck

I think you are putting way to much pressure on yourself, I had my second baby 8 weeks ago. I put on nearly 4st during my pregnancy and stressed the whole pregnancy about losing the weight, but after I gave birth I didn't feel the crazy urges to eat like during pregnancy so ate far less anyway so my body allready thinks i'm on a diet, ive cut out sugar and stick to 3 balanced meals a day, I allow a bottle of wine on a friday and saturday, I'm back in a size 10 (uk), i don't weigh myself, i think thats where alot of women go wrong, we hold and lose so much water its unrealistic to watch the pounds, just by running around after your little one is enough excersize and the weight comes of faster when your relaxed and happy, i know this as 10 years ago i nearly died of anorexia, i thought i'd be on a diet for the rest of my life but not the case. Just relax, enjoy your baby and realise all you need is a healthy attitude to food and excersize and not go crazy thinking about it all.. : )

I myself need to lose about 60, but i'm male, so it's going to be easier. What you have to do is make gradual permanent dietary changes, and stick to them. As you've found, "going on a diet" isn't necessarily going to work in the long run.

You're active, and that's good, weight training and moderate, large muscle activities (the two Ws, weights and fast walking) are best ways to burn weight off the top of my head, but if you're into something that you love, keep with it.
