Looking for an Old Testament Reference?

I was wondering if anyone had the reference for the commandment from God for the Israelites to gather their possessions and to divide them equally amongst themselves every 60 years. If I remember correctly it was in one of the Minor Prophets although I'm having trouble locating it.

Maybe you're thinking of the Law of Jubilee, where every 50 years the property was to be restored to the original owners, debts were to be canceled, and slaves were to be set free?

I just read the chapter about this a few days ago but right now I'm drawing a blank. You can, though, use one of the on-line Bible search tools such as Blue Letter Bible, at http://www.blueletterbible.org/ When you get there, type jubile* in the search box (and be sure to use the "splat" or asterisk. I don't remember if the King James Version uses one or two final "e"s in jubilee). The results will display every verse where the term appears so give it a try.

Something else that did happen, where people did pool their resources, was in Acts chapters 2 and 4 as I recall. This was just a temporary thing, where people who needed money or whatever let the believers know and the others would sell something to meet the need.

Feel free to email me off list if you would like to continue this discussion.

I just copied and pasted "commandment from God for the Israelites to gather their possessions and to divide them equally amongst themselves every 60 years." And a few sites came up about it but there's a lot to read to get the answer you are looking for. Sorry I couldn't help.

the nice and cozy testomony does ingredient out that the regulation covenant, a settlement God made with historic Israel, is previous and subsequently now no longer binding on Christians. This regulation covenant is roofed interior the previous testomony. yet there is lots extra to the previous testomony than the regulation covenant! There are 3 aspects of the previous testomony that make it considerable to Christians. they're: (a million) fabulous historic previous, (2) upbuilding poetry, and (3) faith-inspiring prophecy, all of great fee to popular-day Christians. an huge examination of the Bible shows that those 2 sections supplement one yet yet another. the two aspects are mandatory for ‘the guy of God to be thoroughly smart.’—2 Timothy 3:sixteen, 17. the previous testomony isn't previous. The Bible testifies that the previous testomony is basically as alive and fabulous for Christians at present by utilising certainty the nice and cozy testomony is. undergo in recommendations the words of Jesus Christ: “guy would desire to stay, now no longer on bread on my own, yet on each and every utterance coming forth by utilising Jehovah’s mouth.” And that includes now no longer basically the Christian Greek Scriptures besides the undeniable fact that the Hebrew Scriptures to boot.—Matthew 4:4

Try Hans Christian Andersen or the Brothers Grimm. Not quite the bible, but at least you'll get a more truthful answer
