Are salon products really worth the money?

A hairstylist this weekend told me that most drugstore shampoos contain a lot of silicone, and it changes the pH of your hair, causing it to become brittle and break off.

My hair was pretty damaged because my last haircut was probably 4 or 5 months ago, and she brought it up on her own when she saw it. Are salon products really better and worth the extra couple dollars, or was she just trying to make a few extra bucks herself?

My hair dresser told me the same thing. In all honestly, you just have to go with your better judgement. I found that shampooing and then using a lot of conditioner works for me. I go through tons of conditioner, so I just wind up spending as much money on regular stuff as I would on the salon brand. My hair dresser told me that Pantene is the enemy, but I never saw anything go wrong with my hair when I used it.

I believe they are. Salon products are all about the health of your hair while the other stuff just gives you a quick fix which later results in unhealthy damaged hair.

depends on the product, sometimes a cheap simple shampoo is better than a expensive one because all the extra chemicals they contain.

But in the other hand expensive shampoos are always right if they say they give you straight hair. they do.

So i guess its really up to you.

    good luck
