how long does it take for a twisted ankel to heal?

Well yesterday I was walking down stairs and missed the last step. And when I fell I twisted my ankle. so it isn't really bad, but it a little bit swollen. so how long will it take to heal. and i keeping it elevated and icing it and im not doing any running or Jumpping on it.

    K, You are doing all the right things, elevating, If u have any crutches i would use them for 2-3 days, alternate ice compresses with warm, soak ur foot and ankle in warm water a few days and stay off of it 3-4 days and it should heal after all that, Kevin thanks for the complement.     I don't know! After a while when your ankle heals , I would do ankle exercises, to strengthen your ankles. Maybe use crutches for a while till your ankles get strong. I wonder if you should get your ankle xrayed or get it checked by a doctor. I would say give it a week or 2.
