do you still have periods if you are sterilised, in the news today the lady woth learning difficultie in court?

i am a bit concerned about the news today the lady with learning disabilities going to court because the doctors say it is in her best interest to be steralised

i was thinking these girls with for example severe cerebal palsy, surely having a period each month helps to safeguard the girl a bit from rape

so if they steralise them will there be periods

thanks for your answers

Update:

i mean if the lady had periods then at least there would be a chance for evidence that they have been raed and also if the periods stopped and they were pregnant then at least we could tell that something is going on if they were not able to tell people them selves that they had been raped,

sorry i cant get my words right

yes, you do have periods after sterilisation, although in this case they want to stop her having any more children, there is no indication she has been or is in danger of being raped.

I'm not sure any determined rapist is going to ask his victim if they are on a period first though

A woman who has had her tubes tied, or whose uterus has been removed will not have a period. A disability does not get in the way of getting raped. Those women are the most vulnerable. You do not need a period to determine if someone has been raped. Doctors usually know from doing an examination whether a woman has been raped. Also conception and the period don't happen at the same time. A learning disability is no reason at all to prevent pregnancy. I didn't hear about this lady so I don't know about her situation, but from your question, it sounds like she will do okay. If you are a girl you should talk to someone who will tell you about the female body. If you are a boy, you should find someone who knows to tell you about the female body. It is pretty important information if you want kids.

It's to stop her getting pregnant AGAIN . The fact is she should have been sterilised at puberty , there are already far too many people in the world .
