Your thoughts on the dark side of romance, perhaps?

Wondering

Dark souls twisting in the night of their own minds,

While shining in the eyes of others,

Contemplate if they are unloved,

Or merely the unloving with yet another ephemeral-

To be sworn to undying devotion,

And to have same extracted painfully

Under mutual duress:

Each saying, "Love me, or learn of Hell."

All that springs from hearts and flowers

Sinks into blood and money.

All that begins with "I do"

Ends with "You will."

And, end it does.

I am presently going through a divorce and your poem hits home with me. I loved him when I said "I do". So many nights spent wondering if I was loved in return. Now I know it was a game he played so well. Your poem makes me ache and I needed these words you wrote. Thank you. Painfully beautiful poem. The words are like the dates on a tombstone. So much happens between the beginning and end. Between I do and you will.

Didn't you get any Valentines candy? LOL

I expected something different as 'dark' is not at all what I would call this... more harsh and blinding like a flashlight aimed at your eyes that blinds you and leaves the negative image when you close your lids.

It's all about expectations, you think?

I love your work but I don't love this poem.

Please go back to expressing the wonders of the Universe and you so beautifully do.

But that's because people have an unrealistic view of what marriage is. The first bump in the road and some want to quit. Marrigae is nothing BUT bumps in the road, but real love knows how to surrmount them, forgives easily, is faithful. This is a jaundiced view, my Friend, and from one who has a pessimistic attitude. Real love exists; you just have to be wise and not mistake it for lust.

    "Dark souls"

    "Undying devotion"

Has to be something better than these.

    A good overall piece.
